Best case 5-7
Worse case 1-11
Most likely case 4-8 or 3-9

50% at Charlotte seems wrong. That should be a win. 50% home for ODU seems wrong too, I expect you to win that one too

Not one area of Western's football team improved over the last 13 games...

NOT ONE

QB is gone and the best defensive player is trying his luck in the NFL and two Sr 3 year starters are gone from a offensive line that got worse the more games they were coached.

Hell even the FCS game is 50-50

14 is such a stupid number of teams for a football conference. I mean, I love you all dearly and all, and I'm so honored to share this fine conference with your schools, but when you don't play a conference mate for 6 years, that's a problem (although they may not stick with this system of keeping the same cross-divisional opponents for two years at a time which would speed the rotation up).

I wonder why they're doing it this way?

My theory would be that the initial thought was a 16-team conference...THEN the TV deal came out after the middle round of teams were invited but before the final round of invites went out. Kind of an "Oh Sh*t!" moment.

OR, they realized how the big market strategy and grabbing as many big market areas as possible made ZERO difference...or actually hurt the conference in terms of national interest.

Just thinking out loud.

I guess.

In 2022 they'll be forced to mix it up, but then are they just going to run through the cycle again (but with slightly different teams)?

None of that. Next year will be the first time the league has had a stable membership for more than two years since 2010 to 2012.

After all the defections and additions were over UAB then dropped football which further screwed up the league schedule. And then they added it back.

Sure. I get that it's all UAB's fault and I agree.

But you don't need two stable years, you need one stable year to put a plan in place.

There isn't any plan they're going to do next year that they couldn't have started this year.

But if they do have a better rotation set-up that will kick in after we balance out all our return games this season, then that'd be great. Otherwise, the already too-long periods between conference teams playing one another are going to be even stupidly longer.

That is an inviting schedule. The west had better hope either MU or Tech can beat you guys at home otherwise it could be a walk for you.

Heck, for basketball they just throw all of our games in a formula and get a printout, according to one of our coaches

I assume they are trying to keep it somewhat equitable.

If UTEP plays at MT in '17 ostensibly it's only right that MT have to play in UTEP in '18. But when we get through this year there is no reason for the schedule not to change in '19.

Ok, so everyone picked their team over David Bailiff's Rice teams. I get it. But ODU barely beat Rice at home last year, and we have a completely new coaching staff. What did ODU change in the off-season to think you have a 75% of winning in Houston over Mike Bloomgren's first team?

I like it for the aspect of we've got 2 lower reputable teams to open the season (and both at home) before we go on the road for what should be our first tough challenge which hopefully gives us time to get the kinks worked out before we play any CUSA games. As well, we've got our bye week (in week 6) after the Auburn game so that gives us a chance to rest up and heal just before the half way point when we have just CUSA games remaining. Lastly, we do not play on the road on consecutive Saturdays. Granted these don't guarantee winning results but it sure beats the heck out of going to UTEP and Charlotte on back to back Saturdays.

Our QB is no longer a 17 year old freshman. He's 18 now. Y'all better look out.

Seriously, I know nothing. Don't put too much thought into January predictions.

IMHO UNT, UAB, LT should be the top picks. May not work out that way, seldom do things go exactly as one would expect.

RE: 2018 C-USA football schedule due out today at 11am CT
Charlotte will beat Fordham. We might sneak up on 1-2 others.
Best case 3-9.
Worst case 1-11 will eleven straight losses.

Worst worst case: we beat Fordham, steal one from UMass, score a touchdown to beat ODU 7-6, and then catch a couple of folks sleeping on us (WKU, FIU??), and go 5-7 causing our new AD to say,
“I know I missed the first five years of this guys tenure, but this Brad Lambert guy seems like a real go getter. He’s a big up and comer. Better lock him up now before Wake Forest comes sniffin’ around”.

So please fellow CUSA’s please do the Niners a favor and don’t get lax after being up 17-0 most of the game, or wait for us to miss an extra point. Take care a business and don’t let up.

I don't see Florida Atlantic having too much trouble at home, but our away games will definitely determine our positioning in the conference next year.
