Bob, have you ever thought about trying to be a little more pleasant with your interactions? Steve may be excessively optimistic but he has never attacked you or anyone else.

Ah the classic loser defense mechanism. "Whataboutism." What about CMU? Boo hoo. I am laughing at your disappointment and misguided belief in the Murphster!
03-lmfao

You openly rooted against us a few years ago in favor of Keno Davis and CMU. Dont feel bad because about the only thing Murphy accomplished over the years was beating the hell out of Keno. Run along now.

Impressed EMU made it respectable. If only there was not that ridiculous 23-0 run in the first half, EMU could have won it.

Still need Murphy gone!

I don't worry about attacks. They sometimes happen.

I do stand by my statement that the team which looked shell shocked much of the 1st half simply relaxed and played almost play ground hoops in the 2nd half and put on a good offensive display (52 points DESPITE missing a bunch of FTs).

Crazy but if the team made 70% of their 2nd half FTs, they might have scored say 60 points in the 2nd half. That would have been amazing vs. a very good team.

Benched for what I took as lack of hustle. Also was benched for a stretch in the 2nd half against Ohio. Ellison the beneficiary of minutes.

In the Ohio game, he made a lazy pass that went straight to the opposing player and was benched immediately. Did not notice him being particularly lazy- but maybe I missed that.

Just wanted to come on the board and say this about your team and coach. I think most teams could have packed it in at halftime on the road, but I was impressed with the second half showing...

Best of luck to your team the rest of the way.

Disagree Steve. The MAC Conference is down in basketball. UB may be the best team in our weak Conference. They are a good team but definitely not great!

Luckey, can you coach free throw shooting??

Volunteer coach?

I don't have a reason why it seems some of the players regressed in FT percentage. I will say that fatigue typically diminishes concentration and performance. However they did score a lot of points in the second half so I'm not sure how much fatigue impacted them. Murphy could help himself and the team if he finds 2-3 minutes rest a couple times here and there during the game especially for JT4.

We might be having an issue with semantics. I used the term 'very good'.

You indicated 'good but not great.' To switch from English words to numbers:

I would rate UB between 51 - 75, regardless of the adjective one uses.

Buffalo is loaded and were last year as well. Nate Oats may not be a great bench coach but he is a fabulous recruiter, there is Power 5 talent in Buffalo to be sure. They are the class of the MAC.

The irony here is that our coach makes his permanent home in New York State and recruits nobody there while Oats beats him to Perkins from Ypsilanti and Clark out of Detroit.

Clark is from Detroit whom Oats "recruited' to Romulus and coached him there.

Steve you once again are correct. Oats was a tremendous high school recruiter who landed a college job based on being so. Perry Watson and Bill McCartney to name a couple did the same. After seven years here, I would just hope that Murphy would commit to being part of the Ypsilanti community and the State of Michigan. Creighton was at the home game on Saturday, have we seen Murphy here other than during basketball season?

Please, do expand on that a bit. I know nothing about Oats before Hurley hired him.

There are posters here who know much more than I. I only refer to his reputation for recruiting as a high school coach. That stuff happens and isn't well liked.

Romulus H.S. was a power in Michigan high school basketball while Oats was there. It does seem that a lot of the players on his team were not 'home grown' but came from Detroit. Hence the charges of 'recruiting.' Romulus per se is not known as a hot bed for basketball or football players. There would be some but not many.

There were years he'd have 3 or 4 senior D-I recruits on his team.

Other than that I don't know how they got from 'point A to point B' (Romulus was 'Point B'.)

One year, 2012/3 Romulus had THREE players who were all-Metroit Detroit, Wes Clark, E.C. Matthews, and Leo Edwards.

http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/news/a...-the-year/

They also had Jalon Plummer (Youngstown State), Juwan Clark, and drum roll, Christian Pino.

Jaylin Walker of Kent State is from Romulus H.S. (Don't know if he was 'recruited' - don't think he is a Detroiter - he is post Oats).

I won’t go into much details, but let’s just say the way he got and kept many players would not be looked at as “morally sound.” You shouldn’t get to keep your job when you run that kinda program.
