After that would be slim pickings. UTPB may need a few more years to move up.

No SWAC team is joining the SLC. Just another example of you making stuff up because it makes sense in one of your fantasies.

You don't know. One thing is that MEAC is in danger of being no more. You don't know what these will do. Any other D1 schools are outside their footprint who are not in an FBS league.

Yes, I do know and anyone with some common sense (obviously not you) could say the same.

The SWAC just added schools and the SLC lost schools to the WAC, with their whole 2 football members, who just moved up from Division 2. Are you dumb enough to believe that Texas Southern would leave their fellow HBCUs to join Incarnate Word and Houston Baptist??? You have to know that only the dumbest and most ignorant AD in the country would do that.

Instead of looking at every school on America, try getting some common sense.

Easiest route to go to the men's basketball tournament when the better teams left the Southland. Texas Southern might be the powerhouse there.

They already have an easy route.

Sorry, dude. TSU and PVAMU aren't dropping poor Louisiana schools they have history with for poor Louisiana schools they don't have history with.

RE: What was the Southland thinking?!
Well, TX Southern and Prairie View are right in the middle of the Southland footprint, and as rare as its been, an hbcu (Howard) did leave a hbcu conference recently for about the first time. But I see no reason for either school to be desperate enough to join the Southland. The only reason I could see it is if money was so tight they were about to drop sports, and its nowhere near that tight. Don't see it happening.

I think the Southland continues on as a non football conference.

I doubt Delta St and Mississippi College try to move up.

The Louisiana Southland schools may try to get a football membership in the ASUN should that scenario happen. The Texas schools may do the same or football in the WAC.

Dont think it really matters, it is what it is.

Southland will still Have 6 for football so they will be OK after the TX and AR exodus.

If the Southland loses football, the LA schools will have to add soccer to meet the 2 team sports rule for non football conferences

It was Hampton and NC A&T. They both left the MEAC to join the Big South. A more regional conference. This insane proposition is not that.

Howard is still in the Meac

You're right. I got it wrong on Hampton and completely forgot about A&T. I do think Hampton waa the first though.

The 2 Louisiana schools do have an issue in SWAC right now do to being in the same boat as the Louisiana schools in the Soutjland. One of Southern' branch campus in the NAIA dropped sports recently. If I were Texas Southern and Prairie View? I would look at the Southland to join.

RE: What was the Southland thinking?!
Here's a fun fantasy scenario that I doubt will happen but hey its a message board

Southland adds the 5 SWAC West schools to replace the 5 schools they are losing due to their willingness to save travel $$
New Southland Texarkana
A&M Corpus Christi
Texas Southern
Prairie View A&M
Houston Baptist
Incarnate Word
Arkansas Pine Bluff

New Southland LA
Grambling
Southern
McNeese St.
Northwestern St.
USL
Nicholls St.
New Orleans

The SWAC (7 schools that all play football) and MEAC (8 schools, 6 of which play football) are now both at the bare minimum.

If either loses another member they merge into ONE 14 team HBCU conference with strict divisional play for non revenue sports.

When that merger happens, the unhappy CUSA east schools buy the rights to the abandoned shell conference from the MEAC/SWAC merger and finally break away from CUSA like they want

Sane, travel friendly geographic conferences?! Someone escort this man away from his keyboard for making too much sense on a message board that is meant to be totally nonsensical.

LOL

It makes geographic sense but it’s a cultural non-starter. You’d see an alumni revolt at UAPB, Prairie View, Texas Southern, and especially Southern and Grambling. There’s a reason no one’s left the SWAC in 50+ years.

You're referring to Hampton, not Howard!

Neither Southern nor Grambling has "an issue" with the SWAC. Please stop spreading lies for likes.

Well it's official - four SC schools are moving to the new WAC.
