Holy cow! I had no idea Cohn had a shot at this record. It really showcases his abilities as a facilitator.

RE: David Cohn - Tribe Assists All-time Record
He's averaging 7.1 per game, if he keeps it up he'll get the record at the home game against Northeastern on the 18th. Admittedly he had double digit assists against Shenendoah, Milligan, and Savannah State. So against better CAA competition his average might be a tad lower.

He's averaging better than 7 asst a game vs teams not named Savannah State, Milligan, or Shenandoah.

Good stat info. Thank you.

He already holds records for asst/TO ratio and career asst average. He's on pace to shatter the single season (168), career (409), and per game (6.22) asst records.

You're going to get scolded for posting something less than 100% positive. Anyway, the last two years his conference assist averages haven't been that far off from his seasonal assist averages. If the team keeps knocking down 3s and he stays on the court as much as he's been able to do so far this year he can probably keep those numbers up.

David has elevated his game from last year from good to great. He is a blur on the court yet somehow sees everything and is the true captain of the team...showing remarkable leadership on and off the court.

His speed, footwork, shooting and passing has been wonderful to watch. Some of his layup baskets have been highlight film.

Rocco, no one scolded him and I can't imagine anyone would. You're a very very sensitive and somewhat paranoid person who would benefit from thicker skin. No one is out to get you. No one is going to ban you.

What will happen is some people will continue to challenge you when you write chicken little, negative, sarcastic, sniping posts. I'm convinced that's exactly what you want whilst playing the victim. It's a tired act but fits snuggly within forum rules, so, by all means, flame away.

I'm in the camp that believes that every win this year's team gets is a gift to be treasured.

Kudos to Shaver to the great coaching job so far.

However, as thin as we are and as athletically challenged as we are, it is true that right now we have point guard and center play as good as any team in the CAA. I don't believe that statement has ever been true for us before (possibly 1983?).

Basketball success is based on those positions, much as baseball success is built up the middle.

Take each day, and each win, as a blessing.

Impressive. Everything you just said in that sentence was wrong. If you want to have a productive conversation you can PM me. If you want to show off your hall monitor sash then keep up the public upbraidings. I'm just here to talk about W&M.

It's hard to say who is the best, but if you believe in PER (which I sorta do):

By Win Shares (again, something I sorta believe in) Knight is 3rd and Cohn is 11th. Thornton was 5th in WS and 8th in PER his senior year.

RE: David Cohn - Tribe Assists All-time Record
Looking at the preseason all-conference voting, it's easy to see why CofC was, and is, the favorite.

If there is a point guard playing as well as Cohn, it's Chealey. And Brantley is a dominant big man, now back from injury.

One is a senior, the other is a junior.

Still, we are in a good place in those key positions.

RE: David Cohn - Tribe Assists All-time Record
David has already passed (literally) all but Scott Coval (409) on the career assists list. He is sitting on 385 in only 77 career games, for a tidy game average of exactly 5. He already had a wide lead in the career game average. This year he is averaging 6.8 per game, the current record being Coval's 6.22 in 1985. His career A/TO ratio is by far ahead of the pack, but this year his ratio is actually a bit behind the top top two years on the books, Cohn in 2016 and Cohn in 2017.

Is there such thing as a bad drinking game when it comes to Tribe sports. We are either crying in our beer or celebrating with it, but either way alcohol is required!

New record acheived. Currently at 417. With 8 regular season games remaining, the CAA tournament, and....shattering is an understatement. At his average, how many games would it take to get to 500?...just sayin. #lifegoals
