We are the fan base that wants a Nick Saban-like coach, a luxury stadium with all the amenities, high-level marketing and robust media coverage, a new conference which would increase travel costs across all NIU sports, AND 4+ star recruits, but complain about the cost of going to a football game which is about as cheap as it gets compared to schools we'd all like NIU to emulate. Given that, our recruiting and what our coaches have accomplished with the 2 and 3 star recruits they sign--from the Novak era to the present--is pretty remarkable. Doing it "The Hard Way" isn't going to change anytime soon.
Yes it’s pretty remarkable that some people are never happy. What they have a handful of home games and you can’t pony up the small amount for a single ticket? It’s that type of mentality that we can’t even sell out against Utah or BC. Love him or hate him, STF has brought some big name schools to Dekalb and we as fans don’t show up. He has a game at US Cellular field to draw more interest in the team in the Chicago area and fans don’t show up.
And DON’T give me that BS about losing fans due to MACtion games. Those early September Saturday games against prime opponents should even be more special since there’s not many to go to. But nobody shows up. That’s pathetic.

I don't think it helped when they jacked up the ticket prices to $42 on the west side at one point. We're talking about not scaring off the casual fan. Because we don't have enough serious fans.

Do we have any indication that this is the final class for 2019 or might they sign a few more players in February? There are still some interesting players out there.

I would expect another handful to be announced in February, probably 3 to 6. Regardless of how many are announced there will be about 30 new names on the roster come August because that is always the case.

RE: 2019 Official Recruiting Thread
SDSU Jacks' top recruit was offered by NIU.
https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Jarod-...Interests/
He's listed as a DT but I think NIU offered him as an OG. Wonder if the new Offensive coaches have any intention of flipping him. Although, NIU did already sign an OG from WI during the early signing period.

DePriest is already signed with SDSU so he is not flippable.

Thanks.
The 247 SDSU page doesn't show any of their commits as signed.

Thanks for the clarification.

I wonder what are chances are with him, as he has been offered.
He’s visited FSU this weekend. Would love to get him, but don’t like our chances with the other suitors he has right now

I feel like we're pretty set with receiver-slash guys in this class so I'm not that interested in Brown. Of bigger concern is that our early signing class only included two offensive linemen and no tailbacks or linebackers at all.

I think they hit LB pretty hard the last two classes. Some good talent too: Bonds, Jennings, Hogans, Denton, Gay. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trieb moved to LB from this class. I know he is slated to be a TE, but Lersch, Dehaan and Sorogahn are all young waiting behind Brinkman. OL had 10 underclassman on the roster this year. I'd take a talented wr in a heart beat. God knows we need one.
