Let's get another one Saturday.

Hmmmm... giving up 8 hits, oh well, if you say so.

8 H in 35 AB is a .229 batting average, so yes, that's pretty close to terrific. Along with 1 ER and 11/2 K/BB. Also terrific.

What then would the adjective be for HP's pitching?

I'm not of the opinion ours was bad, I'm of the opinion we won despite being out pitched. I don't have many words in my vocabulary which command more respect than "terrific".

Maybe "stupendous"? HP pitched extremely well too, no doubt...only 2 hits and 12/4 K/BB. But the Dukes were better in the one stat that obviously matters the most 04-cheers

Some good reference pages for College Baseball...

Warren Nolan's RPI: http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2018/rpi-live

Nolan's CAA Standings: http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2018/con...l-Athletic

D1Baseball.com used to be the go-to page for college baseball fans, but it is almost all a PPV site now. Bummer.

That's for sure.

My concern was that High Point had pitchers who really competed well against us. Should there be concern for our offense?

Had we been playing UVA and the stat sheet look identical, then there would be no issue. I guess that I expect us to be a far better program than HP must like UVA has a far better program over JMU. My arrogance I guess.

Another terrific pitching gem by the Dukes' staff as the Good Guys win Game 2 of the series, 5-1, over HPU.

2-0 and going for the sweep in Game 2 of today's DH starting in a bit.

Woohoo!

Dukes up 4-3 in 8th trying to finish off the sweep. Sloppy defense has given HP an extra run

Dukes take the 4-3 lead into the 9th. 3 outs away from a sweep to open the season. Put 'em away, Diamond Dukes!!

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKES!

6'6" 245# R-Fr. reliever, Nick Robertson, allows a double for the leadoff tying run in the btm of the 9th and then gets 3 straight outs including a K to finish off the sweep by the Good Guys.

3-0. Next up: at Liberty, Tuesday, 3pm, streamed live via ESPN-3

Great job, Diamond Dukes!!

RE: JMU Baseball 2018
Dukes pitching staff gave up 4 earned runs over 27 innings. Not suggesting HPU is an offensive juggernaut and early in the season pitchers can often be ahead of hitters. Still, this is college baseball. Superb job by our staff. Hoping they can keep it up.

Last year, we were an offensive force over the first third of the season - ranking in the top 10 in the nation in a lot of the key offensive statistical categories. But, our pitching was poor. Hopefully, this season the staff can build on a good opening weekend.

RE: JMU Baseball 2018
HP has had 4 straight winning seasons and had a victory over a ranked wake Forest last year. Not a juggernaut by any means but they have been solid the last few years.

No score after one. We did have an error to allow a base runner.

Update: They made a change on the error to a base hit.
