Will be heading out of Charleston tomorrow AM for the drive up to Wilmington for the Lady Dukes game against UNCW. Nice win against CofC yesterday and hopefully the Dukes can extend their record in the CAA to 7-0.

Ahhh, good old US 17. When in the Marine Corps, I had a long time girlfriend down in Charleston. Made many trips from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point down 17 and back. In those days there was no bypass around Wilmington, you had to go right through the heart of the city and the same for Myrtle Beach before the final leg on down to Charleston.

Admittedly, I haven’t been watching the games so far this year, but I’ve been following the box scores fairly closely. Is anyone else concerned with the poor shooting from Barrier? Why is she still getting this kind of volume?? 11/45 in the last 3 (24%). Woof.

In 1969, my best friend ended up at Cherry Point after being wounded in Nam. (How he ended up at CP is a longer story.) Another friend and I decided to visit him to cheer him up. Anyway after driving forever down the eastern shore on Rt. 13 we ended up outside the gates around midnight. We decided to go back up the road a bit and tossed the sleeping bags outside the car and went to sleep along the road's edge. The next morning we learned how lucky we were that copperheads didn't decide to sleep with us....... BP would love to share the entire story if we ever get the chance.

Kind of an uneven choppy game by the Dukes today. The effort was there but the game just looked a bit weird for the first half. The Dukes seemed to straighten things out late 2nd quarter and the 2nd half and had a nice 15 pt win. The Dukes forced a ton of turnovers and had a boatload of steals that lead to a good number of baskets.

Smalls had a rough day scoring but worked on all the other things she does well. She looked like she was forcing her shot somewhat, maybe trying too hard to make up for the absence of Kelly the past 2 games? Had some nice balanced scoring again which is nice to see.

Hopefully Kelly will be healthy for this weekends games.
