The irony is it’s generally the right who adopts conspiracy theories and twisted info from the corrupt news source otherwise known as Fox News. It’s tough to have an actual intelligent conversation when one is operating on factual information and the other is on a completely different plane.

When you enthusiastically support a guy making statements like Trump has for POTUS, you kind of bring those labels on yourself. Sorry.

We saw how well that worked for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Calling your opponents supporters vile names isn't enough to get elected, even for 'sure things'.

Going to be fun campaign! If you enjoy watching someone else's kids throw a temper tantrum in public you'll LOVE watching the Dems this fall!

With respect, BP...

I don't fully disagree with "what" you are saying (and some is just fact) it is the method in which the points you are making throughout this entire thread that are the microcosm of the greater issue. It is all Right v. Left, Conservative v. Liberal. There is no "us" and there is no "we". This is the BIGGEST issue that I have with the current administration. For all of the "movement" that has happened in DC has been about "what can we do for the people LIKE US" and NOT necessarily for the greater good of all...or at the very least, most. A generalization, I know. But, I think an accurate one.

The argument can be made that this is generally the case throughout the history of the two party system. However, I think the overwhelming brashness and side show nature of his entire existence makes it very hard to get behind him. Even in the times when I agree with him.

We all view "our guy" through our own biases and lenses. Many of the arguments that you are making about the left can easily be substituted for the right during the Obama years.

After a year, I am still hopeful. However, at every turn, he has reinforced the concerns that I had about him from day one.

AFLAGWA, we saw last night how much cooperation we can expect out of the Dems. Looked like a bunch of truculent school kids, sitting on their hands and pouting all night. We even had one Congressman Luis Guitierrez get up and walk out because he couldn't handle the spontaneous 'USA...USA!' that erupted. Hey if he can't handle that let him move back to Mexico and run for their Congress.

Yeah, the nation is deeply divided. One side is handling it a lot more maturely than the other side. Not surprisingly.

The Dem strategy is to oppose everything that Trump puts forward as a block, cooperate on nothing and then run on that in November, 2018. IF the economy stays in good shape as I expect it will, they will have had absolutely nothing to do with that. Let the chips fall where they may.

I suspect some moderate Dems will be screaming for new leadership in December, 2018.

Personally, I am perceiving some one-sided/short-sightedness in your posts. There is a lot of "my team" "whatabout".

A couple of points...

One, behavior notwithstanding, Congressman Luis Gutiérrez was born in Chicago, IL. Moving "back to Mexico" is impossible.

Two, it is always easier to act like the bigger person when you are the one with all of the toys. As far as "one side handling it more maturely"...yeah, it is obviously the side that makes up elementary school nicknames for anyone that disagrees with him.

Three, unless you are engaging in MASSIVE revisionist history, sometimes the only tool at the minority's disposal IS obstruction. The Obama Administration faced a similar strategy from the Republicans. That being said, in the times that there has been bipartisan work (ie-immigration) POTUS has shot it down. There is a huge difference between compromise and giving in.

I don't disagree that there will be a desire for new leadership.

I have great respect for you as a poster, but I think you are failing to view the whole picture. Keep in mind, I don't disagree that the left can move a little more right, but I think the right could move a little more with them, as well.

Have you watched the last 8 SOTU addresses?

How can you be that naive... it goes both ways. Which is exactly what’s wrong with politics today.

He ought to act like it, he doesn't. My ethnicity is Greek, but I support the USA not that socialist frump government in Greece.

Quote:Two, it is always easier to act like the bigger person when you are the one with all of the toys.

Asking people not to throw things at you, curse you or spit on you when you're walking to a Trump event in Chicago is asking too much? What world do you live on? How do you excuse behavior like that from purported adults?

Quote:That being said, in the times that there has been bipartisan work (ie-immigration) POTUS has shot it down. There is a huge difference between compromise and giving in.

Trump asked the Dems to work with him on immigration. Dickie Durbin could hardly contain himself with glee when he ran out of the room to tell every reporter within earshot that Trump had used the term 'chithole countries' when describing some of the places we get refugees from. The Dems then pulled out of the talks with no input. That's cooperation in your view, that's bipartisan?

You can't work with folks who don't want to work with you. Schumer and Pelosi have put the word out, don't cooperate with the Administration. No question about it.

Yes I have. I watched the GOP withhold applause on issues where there is wide disagreement. I NEVER saw anyone get up and run out on President Obama. I NEVER saw anyone boycott his speeches.

Come to think of it, the DEMS pulled the same crap on W. Bush-remember his election parade in 2000 when they all stood along the route and gave him the silent treatment? Real mature.

The behavior between the two parties isn't comparable. The Dems are in tantrum mode because they lost an election they thought was in the bag. I get that. What I don't get is why they are still in tantrum mode a year later. They need to get over themselves, everyone else has. Except for Hollywood and a few NFL players.

Friendly reminder about Republicans shouting "You lie" and "Liar" (and sometimes much worse) from their seats in the middle of Obama's SOTU speeches.

It is painfully obvious that you are functioning in the same way that you are accusing the democrats of functioning. You refuse to see any fault in your side, your argument, your man. I get it. You have a problem with the Left. The Democrats. The Libs. I have a problem with the man that is POTUS. Both parties have purpose. Both parties have faults. You don't see that.

Quote:He ought to act like it, he doesn't. My ethnicity is Greek, but I support the USA not that socialist frump government in Greece.

Dude was born in Chicago. Came up from essentially nothing. Got married. Drove a cab, work in schools with child assault victims, had his #$%^ing house firebombed, kept his nose to the grindstone, and has spent the better part of the last 40 years in public service. What part of ANY of that isn't "acting like it"? That's about as American as you can be. What...he doesn't act like it because he doesn't clap like the azzclown at the mic clapping for himself after every single punctuation mark? He walked out to grandstand and make a point. Oh, but that must not be "your kind of protest", not unlike your dig at the Dems and a "few NFL players" in your other post.

Quote:Asking people not to throw things at you, curse you or spit on you when you're walking to a Trump event in Chicago is asking too much? What world do you live on? How do you excuse behavior like that from purported adults?

Anyone that throws things at you, curses at you, or spits at you while walking down the street deserves to be punched in the throat. You have every right to support any political candidate that you wish. But don't go equating that behavior to the way that the democratic legislature has been handling themselves. Again, maybe not "your kind of protest", but they are using the limited voice that they have to try and be heard.

Quote:Trump asked the Dems to work with him on immigration. Dickie Durbin could hardly contain himself with glee when he ran out of the room to tell every reporter within earshot that Trump had used the term 'chithole countries' when describing some of the places we get refugees from. Really, BP? Dickie Durbin? If that doesn't prove my point about the "maturity argument", nothing will. Oh, but it's your team...so, it's okay. And if you think that the negotiations on immigration were done in good faith, I would invite you to step away from Fox News and The Blaze for a few minutes and read BBC articles on this. Or, for that matter, any non-mainstream media platform. The Republicans and Democrats had a bipartisan agreement that Trump refused to be a part of without his almighty 20 billion for his "big, beautiful, great wall" and then blames it on the Dems for not bowing to his whim. That is not negotiation. That is not compromise. To quote you, "that's cooperation in your view, that's bipartisan?"

Quote:You can't work with folks who don't want to work with you. Schumer and Pelosi have put the word out, don't cooperate with the Administration. No question about it.

They very likely have. Because, as you said, you can't work with folks who don't want to work with you.

BP-I'm not saying that you are wrong on all counts. I'm not even saying that I didn't agree with some of SOTU. Actually, quite a bit of it. But take the blinders off. It won't make you stop seeing your side of things, but it might help you see the other side more clearly.

Without Hillary Clinton, there is no President Trump. As bad as Trump is, he was/is perceived by most to be the lesser of two evils. Just about any other Dem nominee would have won.

In some respects, when you consider so many of the vile things Clinton(s) did, Trump may end-up being a blessing in disguise (gads, that hurts to say that).

Brazile is a legit, and principled, leader. Hillary rigged the nomination in a way that would make Nixon blush. That is extremely disturbing, regardless of ideology and party preference.

Typical deflection Republicans bringing up Clinton when they have no other way to go.

Proves my point about Republicans' double standards, hypocrisy, and finger-pointing. Nobody here is doubting the Dems are liars, but to pretend the Republican party is any better is just silly.

And I completely disagree that Trump is the "lesser of two evils", and he is surely anything but a "blessing"... 03-puke

Literally any other Republican nominee would've been at least tolerable to most reasonable democrats.

How about you take your blinders off? What's wrong with a wall? Israel has a wall, many nations have border walls, MEXICO has the most formidable border wall in the western hemisphere on their southern border with Guatemala and Honduras. It's apparent YOU don't like Trump from the tone and message of your comments. Fine. But I think he's spot-on, especially after 8 years of Barack Obama who did next to nothing besides enact a costly health care bill which is falling apart now and double the national debt.

Trump used the term 'I' four times in his entire SOTU address. Obama typically used it 4 times in his first sentence. Who's the 'azz clown' to use your words (real mature, btw)? Tap that into your pipe and puff on it, AFLAGWA.

As for Luis Guitierrez, he's hardly the Horatio Alger you claim he is. He's currently under Federal investigation for hiding Hundreds of thousands of Dollars of campaign funds in his wife's accounts. I have little doubt he'll be exonerated, he's an Illinois Democrat-corruption is expected of them.

I have been clear in the past that I am not a Republican. I am an Independent and in no way have I said the GOP is "better." That said, President Trump is an unintended creation of the Democratic Party and a primary unethically, and possibly illegally, rigged for Hillary Clinton. Any other Dem nominee, and Trump would not have been giving the State of the Union last night.

The Democrats have only themselves to blame.

Agree with Gull Lake, without Hillary Trump would never have been elected. She is so massively corrupt personally and professionally not even the Dems could be motivated to get out and vote for her. Had they run Joe Biden he'd be President now.

She corrupted the DNC so she had a lock on the nomination. Even the DEMS saw the obvious lack of fairness in how they programmed the machine so nobody else had a chance.

In my view she and Bill will be very fortunate if they are not indicted for selling access and influence while she was Secretary of State and embezzling funds intended for Haiti's recovery. Anybody else would have been indicted long ago, but these are the Clintons-America's royal family of sleaze. Nobody really expects any more from them.
