We are talking about the present so SMU's lack of tournament wins in decades is irrelevant, its current bubble status does matter. UCONN is currently a cellar dweller though.

Did you not just bring up your defending AAC Championship? Seems as though you opened the door to the past.

And UCONN, despite having its 2 worst seasons in the past 30 years, has remained a mid-pack AAC team.

SMU is currently the defending conference regular season and tournament champion. That is not the past that is current. In March it will be the past. The UNC Tar Heels are defending national champions, the Astros go into the 2018 MLB season as defending World Series Champions, the Golden State Warriors are defending NBA champions. All are still current. If I mentioned SMU's previous conference championship then I would be inserting past history into the discussion.

UCONN is currently the defending AAC school with a MBB National Championship. That is not the past that is current. It won't be past until another AAC school wins a National Championship.

The UCONN Huskies are not defending national champions. They are the conference's most recent team to win a national championship which is very different. Keep spinning to try to make yourself currently relevant. The fact is that UCONN is currently mediocre and it is absolutely hurting this conference.

Where did I say UCONN was defending national champions? Spin is fun, isn't it??

Wichita fans are too funny. They're in the best run their program has ever had and yet, its still nothing close to the best run UConn, Cincy, Memphis, or Houston ever had. Then, it all comes crashing down when Marshall leaves and they'll be horrible again. Heck, they're a 2 seed in the conf tournament as of today.

Poor guys.

Also a 2 seed in current Bracketology.

Lets not group all Wichita fans into one person’s thoughts, ok?

And finally, you should probably just retire with the Marshall is leaving line already. After 5 years of it, it’s just not an original take anymore, nevermind ignorant. Although, I’m sure there’s some saltiness from some Memphis fans after Marshall going to Memphis as a foregone conclusion a couple years ago didn’t quite pan out.

Calipari was rumored to leave year after year. Eventually, it will happen. We've been in your shoes. Well, except we had 4 straight years of sweet 16 or better that WSU doesn't, but its ok, fella.

Ya fella, with a little bit of cheating on the side.

Unless Kentucky ends up opening anytime soon, I think the bed has been made. And even there, Marshall’s wife isn’t a fan favorite.

Salty salty

Actually, conference is helping RPI. Houston, SMU, and UCF non-conference RPI is lower than conference RPI. This may be an issue when the NCAA bids are awarded, especially for Houston. For Houston, non-con RPI is awful due to weak non-con schedule. How do you pick SMU or Houston over a NM State or a St. Bonnie as an at large, given that those schools had a much stronger non-con schedule and a higher non-con RPI? The teams in the AAC are stronger than the A-10, so SMU and Houston will make up ground if they win. But, it unless somewhat in the middle of the pack separates themselves from the others in the AAC, you are looking at 2 NCAA bids and a lot of NIT bids.
Houston projected overall SOS 97
St Bonnie projected overall SOS 87
NM State projected overall SOS 165

so yeah maybe for St Bonnie's- but New Mexico St- no way in hell. The problem for St Bonnie's will be their tier distribution...
only projected to have 6 tier 1 games, and only 3 tier 2 games. Houston is projected to have 7 tier 1 and 7 tier 2 games. So a pretty big gap there- and that's before the conference tourney as well......

Well, I made the post pre-lunch so you'll have to excuse my uncharacteristic surliness. I was hangry. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Congrats on beating Tulsa, Tulane, and Temple. Your trophy is in the mail.

Hangry seems to be one of your better attributes. As for the schools, I didn't ask for a trophy. Just questioned why you had so many teams we beat ranked above us. If you're going to issue edicts on other teams, try considering actual game results. 03-lmfao

Forgive me for not taking into account Memphis' recent surge. My mind is muddled from all the Tiger fans acting suicidal since we joined. Also, your recent surge IS NOT helping the conference one bit. You are Lebo'ing it.

ESPN is our media partner:
ESPN embraces the AAC fair/favorable press in football: no
ESPN gives the AAC fair/favorable press in basketball: no
ESPN embraces the AAC's P6 mantra: no
ESPN will give the AAC a great media deal: YES...just look at the evidence for that^
