ECU's next Basketball Coach?
I know this is still mid season. Which coach is on the radar for the open gig?

All we know is that a consulting firm has been brought in to help find a new coach. Any names associated with said search are just rumors at this point.

Moton would be an excellent hire.

RE: ECU's next Basketball Coach?
Supposedly from ECU's 247 site owner Crean and Gottfried have voiced interest. There's been some discussion that Joe Dooley may be interested.
I would take any of these...Moton,Crean,Dooley and Mike Davis. Was originally on the Gottfried train but since more names have surfaced he is too much of a risk I think to take. Crean is the obvious choice, no baggage, no scandal, just a great coach who carries himself well, wins at a high level and runs a clean program.
Moton is a risk, as is any coach who has only done it at a lower division, but he certainly has had success.
We finally have some really good candidates that are interested in this job, thanks to this conferences allure, I just hope with the same search committee running the search who found Scottie Freaking Mo, we don't somehow screw this up.

Any coach is a risk, but ya'll don't have much to lose and Moton's buyout probably would be a lot more affordable than some of the other candidates if it came to that. I also don't think he's the type of guy that would jump ship the 1st time a bigger program came calling after a little success.

There are more to our football issues than Mo. Go back and look at our recruiting classes under Ruff and see who those guys had offers from. That was a slow motion train wreck in the making. Love Ruff to death but the man wasn't recruiting an athlete that could play at the FBS level.

I've heard that while he is an excellent coach, he is not so great on the interpersonal side, and I'm sanitizing what this person (Jr College coach) told me.

That really wasn't the point of the post, let's keep this about basketball.
And for the record I did not have a problem w Ruff being fired. Ruff could coach the heck out of his players but couldn't recruit. Mo appears to be able to do neither.

Of the names that have been rumored for ECU the list for me goes like this
Crean (I still don't buy how interested he is but if it's me I find out and offer him today if he'll take it)
Dooley
Moton
Earl Grant
Gottfried

NOOOOO! Tom Crean, while a good coach, can't win in Greenville.

My problem with Gottfried is it ended really badly for him in two places.

I'd go for one of the sitting head coaches that seem to be on the radar: Grant, Dooley, Moten.
Gottfried seems like a better version of Lebo.
Don't like Crean.
