The economics of cheap sex
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/201...itics.html

Interesting article about the consequences of "cheap sex."

...These structural forces and their consequences are the topic of Mark Regnerus’s book Cheap Sex: The Transformation of Men, Marriage, and Monogamy, published in September. Regnerus, a conservative Catholic sociologist at the University of Texas, provocatively explores how changes in technology and American society more broadly have reshaped intimacy in recent decades, creating a world in which sex is low-effort and abundant, marriage is late, and relationships tend to be fleeting. Cheap Sex has already become a cult hit on the right for its author’s pessimistic take on these developments, but it is a book that should be eye-opening even for those who reject its author’s normative commitments. Grounded in abundant sociological research, a wealth of in-person interviews, and creative borrowing from critically minded left-wing theorists such as Anthony Giddens and Eva Illouz, Cheap Sex is an important, if at times partial attempt to understand the way we live and love today....

or maybe it's due to feminism and the biatch that's crying in one's ear incessantly....

it's hardly an enigma that internet porn and robotics have gripped a many....

it matters not if one likes it.....it's only a matter of how many do moving forward.....

it then becomes how to tame or integrate......

see how this shite works.....

it's always 1 or 0

At 58, I sometimes wish I had a maid to take care of all the crap around the house.

But not enough to get one.

Quantity has a quality all its own. For the yunguns, pick a missus that likes to knock boots as much or more than you do. These poor bastards who are confused that their wives think sex is a hassle after they had to talk them into it all the time before marriage...duh.

RE: The economics of cheap sex
The weirdest thing this generation is doing is virtual sex. And yes it comes in sensaround. They buy the speakers and vibrating equipment and go from there. Like other social phenomena for millennials the net effect is less socialization skills, less face to face contact period, and an expected low birth rate from this generation. In fact so much so that the government in Japan holds state sponsored meet & greets to try to get the young men and women to actually meet, hopefully fall into something greater than virtual love, and of course produce little taxpayers.

And I thought the backseat at the drive-in was awkward? The older I get, the more convinced I am that I may have actually lived in the best of times. I was too late for polio too early for aids, and just right to have decent TV, and lots of face time with friends who still went dancing and partying, fishing, and hunting.

When I was doing non profit work all I could think of was how sorry I felt for the kids. They had no place to go to blow off steam where they wouldn't get in trouble. They had no way to settle disputes without getting expelled. They had no way to grow up without being under the constant supervision of parents. They really had no playground time or recess in school. And they were scared of everything. Now it seems to me they want an income without being bothered by a boss, they want friends without having to look them in the eye, they want to post crap without having to back it up or account for it, and they want sex without intimacy.

At the drive in I probably watched a sci fi flick about this generation. Oh wait, I did, the movie was called, Village of the Damned!
