Now that we have half a dozen at least, can we wrangle ONE runnin' back?

These days the way QBs transfer out if they don’t play, you can never have too many. I mean I don’t want 10, but nothing wrong with 5 or even 6. QBs are also hard to evaluate, especially for those of us not getting the big time recruits. The 4 and 5 Star QBs are either athletic as hell, can throw it through a brick wall, or both. That’s easy to see. But the schools we compete with aren’t getting that kind of QB straight out of high school. Most of the QBs that sign with G5 schools are very similar when it comes to measurables and athletic ability. Between 6’0 and 6’2, decent athlete, average arm strength, good accuracy. If a G5 gets a QB out of HS that’s a really good athlete, he’s usually woefully innacurate. The good G5 QBs mostly separate themselves with their understanding of the game, work ethic, and accuracy. AD had that. Nick had that. Keon, on the other hand, has not shown all that.

It’s hard to know which ones have it until you see them with the bullets flying. With real life athletic 250 pound D-1 pass rushers coming at them. So I’m good with stockpiling as many as we can, hoping to hit on a couple and have a succession of good QBs.

And quite a few times when we’ve had a surplus of athletic qbs one or more have turned out to be a WR, DB or even tight end (Bobby Garner). As with most high school qbs they are usually (but not always) the best athlete on their team

like taking a pitcher that can also hit and play in the field.......you figure out what they are best suited for as they grow into the their body and mind....

it's going to be a free-for-all competition in the spring.....

I see nothing wrong with this methodology.....

i dont care who the QB is next year as long as it isnt Keon.

Who knows, the FB staff may have already moved Keon to a different position, like RB if they don't get a good signee. My only issue there is I've seen Keon fumble way too many times.

I don’t think Keon is quick enough to be very good at running back, or safety for that matter. I think he stays at QB or transfers.

He should move to defense.

I just don’t know what he could play on defense. He’s about 6’1 220. Runs about a 4.8. Too slow to play DB and too small to play end. He could fit at LB but after playing QB his whole life that would be a huge adjustment.

agree.....

feed him a ton of protein and see what he can accomplish if LB.....

other than that, I'm not certain what other option exists.....

maybe safety??? I could see that value...slim him down and teach him read ability from that side of ball....I could see that as an advantage if he can grasp that concept.....

If i recall there was a kid from Iowa State that moved from QB to LB with pretty good success. However his name eludes me.

I said 4.8 would be slow for a safety. I agree that would be fine for a LB. Just don’t know if he’d have enough time to make the adjustment to the more physical nature of the LB position.

Sure, but he played all over the place and didn't have SEC padlevel.
