Not totally surprised to see Kent St. make his final list. I think they're a team to keep an eye on under Sean Lewis.

What does the young man want to study?

KSU may have an academic program WMU does not have, or a stronger one than WMU has that he is interested in.

Probably not, but there are things to consider for college besides athletics.

I've been watching. I watched their 7 or 8 decommitments over the past month.

New coach is either really shaking things up, or not honoring previously offered scholarships.

He probably is being told he'll have a chance to step in right away. I wouldn't want to play D1 football in front of a home crowd smaller than your HS games but it's the players choice.

Unfortunately, with MACtion/ESPN, the entire MAC has been reduced to Kent State's level of bad attendance.

Weeknight football is an irresponsible disaster.

playing early shouldn't be a problem for this kid. No matter what, Kent State is still Kent State. It's sad that they haven't been able to elevate the program. Dix Stadium atmosphere is not very good IMO

Gull Lake outdraws Kent many times, even if Kent is home on a Saturday. Ball State inj that slot also. Been to two BSU games, bet both games didn't generate 5,000 fans combined.

Unfortunately, the stands at Waldo were only marginally more full when we hosted Kent last November:

MACtion is a distraction. End it NOW!

MACtion is not ending until a better revenue source is found. Ironically, I remember both Cubit and Fleck speaking about MAC games on national TV during the week. They both admitted it helped recruiting. The outstate kids liked it because family could watch. Cubit also praised it a bit because other D1 schools weren't visible mid week and only the MAC was. That doesn't solve attendance woes but I wonder if any of the kids on WMU current roster came here because of above items.

I don’t have a problem with MACtion, but rivalry games must be excluded. BG/UT
Western/Central, OU/Miami, Akron/Kent.

I agree with this 100%. Games late in the season which wont draw anyway are fine to put midweek. But make it early enough that those folks who have jobs to go to the next morning can still go to the game if they want without having to get out of the game at 11:30.

We got ourselves a lot of young talent there. Out of the four we're bound to have at least one really good one to push Wassink.

RE: QB Wyatt Rector
So the starting job will be Wassink's to lose I assume? I really like this recruiting class so far, lots of options at the qb position for lester to mold and work with. What other noticeable players are we returning for 2018? I know we lose Philips, Sam Beal, Okarofor to the draft. But I think this year we should be a somewhat dangerous team, hopefully can make a decent bowl game. Anyway, here's my schedule predictions.

Syracuse: W
Michigan: L
Delaware St: W(not sure if this will count towards bowl eligibility like it did for FSU)
Georgia St: W
Toledo:L
Central M:W
Ball State: W
Northern Illinois: W
Bowling Green: W
Ohio: L
Miami:W
Eastern: W

Syracuse: W *Syracuse has the best QB WMU will face in '18
Michigan: L *Tough game hope we put on a show
Delaware St: *They will be eligible after that bad press
Georgia St: W *Rising program, no guarantees in Atlanta
Toledo:L *Rockets resemble '17 Broncos, lost much of their offense
Central M:W *Must win
Ball State: W * Must win, weak team
Northern Illinois: W *NIU and WMU will be most improved MAC teams in '18
Bowling Green: W * Agreed
Ohio: L * We will beat Bobcats in Kazoo
Miami:W * Another improved team.
Eastern: W * Agreed
