3 things learned from Ohio's puzzling blowout loss vs. Toledo.

“Toledo took the lead for good at 17-11”. That six pointer was huge and totally unexpected.

The box score shows over 6,000 at the game. That place must be huge because watching it on ESPN3 - it looked like it was mostly empty in the lower section. Not much noise either, but I guess given the score for most of the game, that is understandable.

Radio guys commented that it just kept filling up throughout the first several minutes and that it was a larger crowd than expected but VERY quiet, even in the early going.

The convocation center seats approx 13500. It goes back to just prior to OU's hey day when they were ranked #3 in the country early in the season (1969?) when they had Walter Luckett (5* #1 national recruit) Dave Ball and Dave? Rush. I may miss a few names but I saw UT play there that year when they were ranked super high. maybe someone can check my hazy facts but I believe I'm pretty accurate.

OU packed them in at that time

Hard to believe a MAC team was pulling in 5* during the MAC hey day of 1960 thru 1980

The OU FB team left at halftime.

Luckett was in the early-mid 70''s. Ohio's best teams had Bunk Adams and Jerry Jackson on them. They made it to the Elite Eight before losing to #2 Michigan.

Thanks Boca.. I do agree Luckett was early 70's but the #3 ranked team preceded them with Ball, etc.

I'll do some research

RE: MBB at Ohio
Puckett played while I was at UT along with George Green and Denny something or other (Rauschenberg, IIRC)who was an absolute wild man. The UT football team used to sit in the end zone at the Field House and really get after certain players. They found Rush an easy target and in one game he challenged the whole football team to fight him. I think he got kicked out, which was probably fortunate for our football team- not much of a player, but a pretty amazing physical specimen.

Coach K commented on the Post Game Shows after both CMU and OU Games that, besides playing great "unselfish team basketball" with a lot of guys contributing, a major reason for their league games successful so far is the "unbelievable leadership" they are getting on and off the court from T. Fletcher.

Absolutely! Makes me think we need to recruit another 6'6"-6'9" quality guard.
