One of the Great Tribe Fans Passes
We lost one of W&M's most loyal fans, a terrific man and war hero, Jim
Dorsey this week in Williamsburg. If you don't know the name, Jim is the guy who for years and years at Tribe home football games stood up in the stands after every Tribe first down and led the stands in a "First Down, Tribe" chant (with a pause after the words "first down".

In fact he loved his nickname, "First Down".

Jim graduated William and Mary in 1961 and spent 25 years in the U.S. Army, served two tours in Vietnam and earned, among many other awards, both the Silver Star and Bronze Star for heroism. He retired as a Lt. Colonel.

He became a familiar face for many years in the 'Burg working at the Jamestown Settlement...he trained and mentored scores of costumed interpreters.

A grand guy, an ultimate Tribe fan, and a great citizen. Think of him every time you hear "first down, Tribe" at home games.

My kids loved him. He always held up his little first down sign and turned to the crowd behind him. He'd shrug his shoulders if the crowd insufficiently responded. Great fan.

We still have the towel waving guy who paces the end zone. I hope.

Thank you, Jim, for your military service and for the many years of Tribe Pride.
