Decent play caller. Very timid at times. Not sure how he is as a position coach. I haven’t seen much progress in our qbs the last two years.

I am wanting to see how Walden would do with our offense.

I think we'll have a dedicated QB coach with the coaching addition being approved by NCAA. So the OC, whomever it is, should be able to concentrate on output and not micromanaging parts of the offense.

Dawson was on Marshall's campus yesterday. Things seem to be moving along.

Not to mention Doc doesn't seem to mesh well with anyone.

You now remind me of the minor investors in the Pittsburgh Steelers organization who wanted Art Rooney II to fire Mike Tomblin. When they knew when they become an investor that the Steelers don't work that way.

It's became an investor. Became. Ignorant hick. There have been many coaches that left because they don't, by their words, get a long with Doc. Therefore saying Doc doesn't mesh well is not inaccurate. But that isn't why I want him gone. His chickenshit playstyle and lack of championships is why I want him gone.

Come on man. Who really cares about proper grammar on a sports message board? No one should, otherwise half of every thread would be grammar correction replies.

Anyway, why so much hostility between Marshall fans? Why do you not like Doc, really? It has to be because he isn't getting 12 wins every season. With exception of last season, the guy has done pretty good. That is just my take, which I do follow Marshall, being I'm married to a Marshall alum.

The funny thing is that he had two grammatical errors in his post after saying that . . . "a long" instead of "along" and the double negative in "not inaccurate".

I have enjoyed this board a great deal and the civility of the posters is one of the biggest reasons. I hope Herd fans will not bring the vitriol to this board that exists on their local boards. I realize I am not a board monitor, but if you can't keep the conversation civil and informative may I suggest you please stay away.

It's not grammar that I was referencing, per say, it's the hillbilly speech of saying things like I seen instead of I saw or I have seen.

The reason I don't like Doc has little to do with wins or losses. It's the way he tries to sit on a lead, playing not to lose. No killer instinct. No ability or desire to put teams away. It's things like punting on 4th and 1 inside the opponent's 40 or playing that 3 yards and a cloud of dust, 3 decades ago WVU ball. It's putting good players in his infamous doghouse while playing his favorites that can do no wrong, even if by wrong we're referencing three or four interceptions in one game by a seasoned QB who hasn't learned to settle down and find rhythm in 3 quarters of the game. He has very little fan or media engagement and when he does it's all gruff and cold. And coaches that worked for him do NOT like him.

There is more than ample evidence of this from those who know and are friends of coaches who left the program because of it. They weren't fired. There aren't sour grapes involved. They left because Doc's an arrogant ass and hard to get along with and they've stated as much to people in their circles. These people are not going to put that out for public consumption and wreck their chances of ever getting another job. But it doesn't mean it hasn't happened and is false.

The reason there is a division among Herd fans is that a good portion of us have seen this all along, even when we were winning 10+ games. Had the same complaints then. Still have those complaints. We were used to seeing us air out the ball. Pass to set up the run. Going for it on 4th down in their territory. And keep scoring till the game was over. Others feel like blind devotion is the only way and questioning anything Doc does is tantamount to heresy and they tell us to eat crow when we beat Charlotte by 11 points and only score 14, but never say a word when we can't beat a team with a winning record till the bowl game. So there's a lot of animosity. We talk about Doc and they talk about us. And I get sick of the smug righteousness so I fire back.

Per se.

But I understand where you’re coming from. Some people around here use seen when I know they know better. It’s almost a country boy badge of honor. I’ve seen the same thing out of some of my Florida relatives that have never walked a hill in their lives. So it’s not limited to hillbilly usage. Deep South will wear it out too.
