That is correct (for all of Texas but El Paso) and will remain so throughout the Olympics. (It changes once we go on CDT daylight time March 11)

Getting closer to Sam's Olympic debut. I've been watching quite a bit of the Olympics and I've got to say, the crowds at some of the venues (like the outdoor ones) are very Rice-like. Maybe the frigid weather is effecting the outdoor crowds but it's surprising - or maybe all the Winter Games are this way?

Sam's training run results. The first few runs his team has averaged between 11th and 16th or so out of 30 teams, but his squad has usually been 1st or 2nd among the American teams. You can also see looking at the results that the start has been strong (top 5 at times).

It's fascinating to me that tiny fractions of a second count so much in this sport. In the last three of six practice runs, the Bascue/McGuffie sled has finished:

10th: +0.38 seconds behind leader; 16th best start)
12th: +0.45 / 6th
10th: +0.49 / 14th

In the first heat, McGuffie's sled was 25th (of 30); They improved to 13th fastest in the second heat.

RE: Sam McGuffie learns his Olympic fate tomorrow
I think the results were wrong with them doubling up on places in the second heat. I think they were 26th in that heat (actually 25th again - and they sit 25th overall when you combine the two heats' times). Their times improved from the practice runs but so did everyone else's. But as Mike noted earlier, the times are super close for most of the competitors. The difference between 10th place and 30th place is measured in tenths of a second.
