2013 - Rice went to the Liberty Bowl while Marshall went to the Military Bowl (Both played P5 opponents)
2014 - Marshall went to the Boca Raton Bowl while LaTech went to the HOD bowl against a P5
2015 - WKU went to the Miami Beach Bowl while USM went to the HOD bowl against a P5 opponent.
2016 - WKU went to the Boca Raton Bowl while LaTech went to the Armed Forces Bowl
2017 - FAU went to the Boca Raton Bowl while UNT went to the NOLA bowl
To put it further into perspective, let's look at the payouts of the bowls we went to this year or have recently gone:
HOD - $1,667,000
Indy - $1,486,200
NM - $1,050,000
Gasparilla - $1,000,000
NOLA - $925,000
Boca Raton - $850,000
Cure - $802,000
Camellia - $250,000
Bahamas - $225,000
Frisco - $100,000
So no, it isn't the best.
Maybe not the biggest or best, but the league's office is looking to develop it into the flagship, clearly. Which is why C-USA has been sending the champion there more often than not.
In fact, all three times that a C-USA team played in the bowl (which is 3 years out of the 4 years it has existed), it was the champion.

You seem to be missing the point. If a west team wins, they'll be NOD or INDY (if possible). You can bet the league office was trying for a matchup other than FAU vs Akron.
The only thing the Boca bowl has going for it is location. If the payout gets north of $1M and the matchup is against a top AAC team (top 2), then it could become the destination of choice for the CC. However, that is still unlikely with the western teams having HOD and INDY (sometimes) on the table.
If Southern Miss had won the CC, they still would have been in the INDY bowl last season.

Playing Florida State was the best bowl option we had and it's a reasonable drive for USM.

But it's almost never a school's choice. And the opponent choice is, certainly, not, either.

If the INDY bowl wanted a 8-4 USM that was like 3rd in it's division, it would have definitely wanted a conf champ USM. Any opponent in the INDY would be better than any opponent in any of our other bowl options (no HOD this season). You seem convinced that if a west team wins the conf that they will be sent to the Boca bowl. Not likely.

It's not what I am convinced about, it's what I see happen. All three times that C-USA had a tie-in with Boca Raton Bowl conference champion went there.

If the BR Bowl was in existence in 2013, I guarantee Rice was staying in Texas...

I agree MTo. The real issue is a lack of bowls in the east. By looking at our bowl ties-ins for 2018 (including our secondaries) we have 2 destinations, 1 in Florida, 2 in Louisiana, 2 in Texas, and 1 in New Mexico. I understand our headquarters are located in Irving, Texas, but if this conference is to remain as expansive as Norfolk, VA to El Paso, TX, we need to start to incorporate opportunities for our eastern members. I know we had other bowls in Florida and Alabama this past season, but that was only due to the fact that we traded our best bowl tie-in (Heart of Dallas Bowl) to get as many C-USA bowl bids as possible. If C-USA East continues to win the conference championship and continues to get shafted in bowl selections, I could see a movement happen. I know ESPN most likely has the final say (as they operate most of our bowl tie-ins), but something just needs to be done about this.
Agree, need a bowl in VA or NC.
Old Dominion get that stadium built, could be a possibility. Va Beach area is a better destination than some of these other options. I would think for this to happen, one bowl will have to die though.

Don't hold your breath. Every time new info is given about the stadium it gets smaller and less impressive.

The better bet is Myrtle beach when Coastal finishes their stadium.
