So Tubby will have to make staff changes.

I thought Jason and John did a good job asking specific questions. Also asked about Antonio Anderson and Leanord Draper reaching out to help Tubby and staff if needed and was told “I can’t speak on things I know nothing about”

so is this the dreaded "vote of confidence"?

It sounded like it. But also would you expect the guy to come out publicly and be like I think Tubby has done a horrible job and we’re looking to replace him?

Well our hope is that we get two new people in the assistant coaches roles so we can recruit at a higher level. Butch Pierre and someone else

Of course that would mean losing two of tubbys current guys who are near and dear to him

Obvs Saul and Pooh are the two who should be on the chopping block but who knows what Tubby will actually do

His statement aligns with the expectations of his boss.

Dr Rudd stated:

Quote:We have resourced this program at a top 10 and 15 level nationally,” said University of Memphis president David Rudd. “We expect to be at that level, period. We have resourced it that way for a reason. Historically it’s a top 10 program, we expect it to perform at that level and we’ve resourced it at that level. Part of my responsibility is asserting that expectation and standard, and that is the standard.”

The clock is ticking for Tubby.

All three aren't up to the job IMO. But, yep, those two stand head and shoulders above Joe in their lack of productivity. I mean zero Memphis area players signed by this group. Absolutely unheard of.

RC saying it was the airport made more sense. The airport sends coaches out recruiting and brings players in for visits. Having assistants hanging around the facility waiting for recruits to call them ain't working.

Later in the show Jason was speculating that Joe was most likely to leave after the season. Pooh has been with the Tub forever, Saul isn't and most likely can't go anywhere else. Joe works his tail off and then has to share the credit with Saul.

I think he was referring to how much money was being invested in basketball ...Not just because we have a nice building we get players ...

He should send Saul to join GG's staff at Loyola. I know he doesn't want to sabotage GG's career, but he needs to do something with Saul.

Best we can hope for is that Bowen and Rudd tell Tubby he has to fire Saul and Pooh and get some real assistants in here. Stubborn old Tubby says hell no and walks!

Yep. I have been saying that all along. He left KY over his son, he can leave Memphis as well.

Geoff was talking about the contract and that there is nothing that says the Tub has exclusive control over his assistants.

I saw Bowen before and after the Liberty Bowl driving his Cadillac thru Tiger Lane.

Regardless of how he actually feels, who really knows; this is exactly what he has to say with the season still unfolding. Wouldn’t put any stock in any of it. Not one single bit.
