MyBB NMSU @ GCU
I'm so ready for tomorrow night's game! There are a lot of intriguing and potentially exciting match-ups. Can Carr stick with Lofton? How will the Aggie bigs match up against Lever, Blumbergs, and Vernon this year?

My prediction is that these two teams will split this season, with each winning at home. What does everyone else think?

I'm sure the rest of the WAC is sick of hearing about the Havocs and the GCU Arena environment, but it'll have been one month to the day since the last home game with students on campus. So, between the long wait and the rivalry game, the atmosphere should be great. It's too bad ESPN 2 couldn't pick up the game to showcase two of the best teams in the conference with a terrific and energetic environment.

Would need a deal with ESPN before any WAC game could get on any live traditional TV of ESPNs.

Our AD has made the GCU home game the designated stuff the Pan Am game this year. I will put our 12000+ fans and students up against your 7400 any time. For that reason GCU hasn't come close in Cruces. We have blown two late leads away the last two years. We will see tomorrow.

The Pan American Center is going to be rocking when we play game #2 in Las Cruces. I expect between 10,000-12,000 fans at that game, something that GCU will never be able to accomplish.

Its impossible for GCU to get more than 7400 at a home game you are fight but they've played in gyms with more than 10-12k in the stands. Should be fun.

Should be fun, but Lopes87 is right. GCU has already played in front of bigger crowds this season at Louisville & Illinois. While it's true there is obviously more going on between these teams and fans who will be in attendance than your average OOC matchup, I'm sure GCU will be just fine.

Heck, I'm sure NMSU will be just fine tonight. A rowdy environment either rattles of focuses a team, depending on the kids. I think enough of Jans and the players to expect they will be dialed in and ready to go from the jump. This game will be won by the play on the floor, not the antics in the stands. Hoping for a good one!

RE: NMSU @ GCU
Smack talk aside I wouldn't be surprised if NMSU loses this one. The GCU players play at another level at home. NMSU playing at a packed UNM rival mad crowd has somewhat prepared NMSU for GCU. I'm sorry but GCU playing at Louisville and Illinois is not the same as playing at NMSU which basically has been continually provoked and has raised the ire of Aggie fans, especially the students. The vibe will be very different, especially if the Havocs come to Cruces again. GCU does have a special home crowd environment but honestly, the Pan Am crowd is meaner, ruder, and gets under GCU's skin more from what I have observed. I was behind GCU bench when Majerle got into a shouting match with Aggie fans cause they got under his skin. The Aggie student section is right next to the visitor bench and it's brutal for a visiting team. I give kudos to GCU's spirit, rehearsed cheers and being loud cause it's basically a small building. However, when the Pan Am is rocking, and it will be vs. GCU, my money is on NMSU winning big at home. GCU crowd is loud, and cute, NMSU's students and loud, rude and crude. Sometimes I'm not proud of it cause of the expletives they yell. However, look at GCU Arena winning percentage at home vs. NMSU's and the Pan Am. Rest my case. Looking forward to game. If it wasn't for Scott Williams I would probably have to watch the game with the sound turned off cause listening to Beutel having an orgasm after every made GCU basket is brutal.

Cannot wait for tonight! It is going to be tough to concentrate at work today. I expect this game to come down to someone having a hot hand. If any one of the key players on either team starts feeling it then that the other is in trouble. I'd love it if somehow Josh Braun uses this game to come out of his season long shooting slump. If I can hear "JB for 3" about five times tonight that will be music to my ears.

Should be a good one tonight, can’t wait to see it. Conference play is finally here and we get to see how we all match up.

They hype is real. Lofton can flat out play, and right now we don’t have an answer.

These refs suck. So many stupid calls against both teams.

Great comeback for the Lopes! For a while there, the Aggies couldn’t be stopped. Defense really stepped up and forced some turnovers. This second half is going to be awesome!

Well... hats off to the Aggies. It was a close and exciting game for a while. Canyon fell apart in the end, while NMSU finished strong. Hopefully we can bounce back and play a better game in Las Cruces later this season.

Good game. Lopes did force the Aggies to turn over the ball a lot more than I’ve seen in awhile. It’s hard for teams to compete with the Aggies toughness and speed. That’s what won us the game.

NMSU is clearly the best team in the WAC. NMSU would have won by 20+ if we didn't turn it over so much. Most of our turnovers were just NMSU playing stupid.

NMSU won the rebound battle 50-25 on the road. Played without J.Jones the last 10 minutes of the game.

Zach Lofton the best player in the WAC. The kid is just deadly from everywhere.
