Yes, I just mentioned it because he was listed in the first post. I'll return to my hole now.

RE: Way too early Depth Chart
After Saturday's loss and the mental condition I was in, I thought it best that I not look at anything JMU sports related for at least the rest of January. Well I made it 4 days.

The only group I really worry about is the Line, as they can make an average running back an all-star. And have a similar effect on Defense, making everyone look better.

I think that on the OL there are a number of candidates not being mentioned Glavin, Timming and Kilgour come to mind. I watched them practice a lot and think they will be in the mix.

On the DL I am not sure I can name the current unknown that will emerge. Perhaps they are there or will be after the Spring.

Years past we "recruited" our DL from the OL and vice versa, not sure that is the current vogue but it's a thought. Perhaps a current OL Stinnie wannabe, is the next DL Simeyon.

I am not sure this post will get me out of my postgame, one-play-loss mindset, but it does help to be thinking about the future.

Slide Tutt into the 3 man CB rotation and hope a couple of the 2nd team safeties and underclassmen stand out in the Spring. Just don't remember Tutt being as physical as Oliver, but it has been a while.

I will say, I do wish we had rotated in more often those young safeties. Seemed like we only saw them in the last 5 minutes of a game, if that.

Not sure who will move but with the depth at corner I could definitely see some shifting being done. Also, not sure if anyone saw that Hayden Mann block/goaltend at the buzzer in high school hoops last night but that sure makes the idea of a freshman coming in and contributing right away alongside a bunch of vets to help/cover for them in the defensive backfield an exciting prospect as well.

Definitely D-Line biggest concern/competition right now.

O'Kelly is as dynamic a punter as I have, honestly, ever seen. Ive seen rugby punters and he is way more than that. He's got a feel for the game that is already impressive and will only get better with time. McBride will only see the field is there is an injury to OKelly, so if he wants to play, he is smart to leave.

it's the depth we take a step back. the second 22 will have alot of new unproven faces.

what has made our D especially nasty the last few years it the quality ran deep. We simply won't know if that will be the case again next year until we start suiting up and seeing what these newbies got.

I disagree about the defense. One thing I noticed during the Natty is that we had absolutely zero depth on the D Line. Those boys we gassed, especially interior linemen, and rightfully so. At LB we lose Hawkins but return Holloway. Plus return Word, Maginley, and Little. Who else played at LB this year that we don't return? At DB we return Tutt and a healthy Oliver, plus everyone else we played this year other than safety (which hopefully we can slide some experienced players in those 2 holes). Overall, not seeing much change in depth on D - plus the addition of Moye and Terrell on the D Line.

You had DL depth against 99% of the teams you played. Not many teams could say they had usable depth at DL against NDSU. You lose some interior linemen for sure but I anticipate another juco player signs in February.

Cherry pick a d lineman from UVA. 04-cheers

I had to hide JMU Nation and FCS Football for at least 30 days. FB now offers a 30-day "snooze" option. Will probably snooze both until Sept 1.

Now, next year's senior class is going to hurt some because of all the RBs graduating and Oliver, Tutt, Moreland, Rashad Robinson too. Ouch

I would assume Tutt would be a RS Junior this year since he did not play last year and was never redshirted.

What's the story with John Daka? He seemed to get a lot of buzz in 2016 as a true freshmen, but seemed to disappear this year. He should certainly add some pounds to be on the DL.

Also cannot forget about Sidney Wellons, brother of Justin, who transferred the beginning of this season from Morehead. May add to DB depth.

Coming out of HS he was strictly a pass-rusher. Hard to get on the field behind Ankrah and Carter. He was listed on the 2 deep all season. I expect he'll see a lot of playing time next year but he definitely needs to continue to add strength.

Click the three dots on the top near the name, and find the option to "Snooze JMU Nation for 30 days". You might have to click on "more options" to expand it.

I haven't done this for JMU Nation yet, but I did for the FCS group.

JMU roster notes to pass along: Virginia transfer defensive lineman Juwan Moye, Pitt transfer quarterback Ben DiNucci, linebacker signee Matt Terrell and cornerback signee Jamari Currence are enrolled and on campus for the spring.

A few players have left JMU as well: wide receiver Braxton Westfield, offensive lineman Pika Leota and defensive linemen Marcus Hawkins and Rondre Knowles-Tener.

Unfortunate that it didn’t work out for them. Had high hopes for all 4 of them, but especially the 3 JMU recruits out of high school (Knowles-Tener, Hawkins, and Westfield). Both of the DL were 3 star recruits with multiple FBS offers out of high school and Westfield was a 2 star receiver. Wish them all the best elsewhere.
