FYI--the UCF SOS was 72. People make a big deal out of that.
Two things nobody ever points out. That was a top 5 G5 schedule. The highest ranked G5 SOS was Navy at 67.
The second thing nobody points out is that regardless of who a G5 schedules or what they do in OOC---they will never rise much above #67 in SOS. Why? Simple math. Every P5 conference member will play at LEAST 8 games vs P5 teams---most P5's play 9 or 10. At best a G5 can play 4 P5's (most play 2 or less). Thus, every G5 will rank behind every P5 team, Notre Dame, and probably BYU in any given year. So, any G5 will always have an SOS above 66. If your going to eliminate a G5 for SOS then the G5 is effectively eliminated from the CFP (which is what I have been saying all along--I think Houston would have been eliminated by the rigged Committee or SOS just like UCF had they run the table).
One more thing worth noting, the 2016 UH schedule everyone points to as being "good enough" for UH to make the playoff----well, it was ranked #76 in SOS in 2016---worse then the 2017 UCF schedule.
One of the things misleading with SOS is if you actually win all your games by default it makes the SOS of your opponents weaker, not stronger.
For example, and to use a different sport, I believe that Temple has the top SOS in basketball (if not top close to top). However, those 8 losses were other team's gains in winning %, perhaps falsely making Temple's SOS so high.
Looking at your Navy example above, had they beat UCF, those SOS of each team probably would've been reversed. That didn't happened, but it did help Navy's SOS no doubt.

trolling people with it is one thing but to be serious!? lulz k
That’s why you’re an anonymous poster on a conference board who cheers for a team that’s never tasted the success that UCF’s program has. UC has been around since what 1895 and never won a BCS or NY6 Bowl game. This whole marketing ploy by UCF has spawned numberous conversations around social media and in the sports media that wasn’t happening before Little ole UCF had the sheer audacity to declare themselves National Champions! A time honored tradition in college football used by such programs as Alabama, Auburn Georgia etc... strangely other football metrics have declared UCF champs as well see non subjective criteria used by Colley Matrix. UCF declaring themselves National Champions is the vehicle that starts the conversation see post incorporating a Jay Bilas recent article. Get over it, cause it’s not going away and neither is UCF.
Not a good look for you, Timmy. What’d mom get you for xmas?

Screw college football and the College Football Playoff Committee!!!! We all know who the real National Champion is, and if this was 20 years ago, it would be official. The cartel has ruined College Football!!!
And I’m one bitter person when it comes to the AAC and my school. But I’m not an idiot and know when to call it like it is.
Congrats UCF on your National Championship!!!
Not meant as a dig but it looks like USm best years are done. You guys did not even belong on same field as FSU. Old USm teams Wouk hAve looked very different. Cusa has destroyed your team and it sucks.

Even Scott Frost has lost his damn mind. He's now second guessing Saban. Must be something in the water down there.

What is so hard to believe about that. Alabama plays their second best QB nearly all year and finally puts i8n their best when desperation faces them and you question what Frost said? Hurts is not a good QB, far from it. Amazing they one all but one game.

Amazing that it too that long for coach Saban to see that.
I would take hurts over anyone that we have had in the past 7 years.
Ha! I bet you would. Can't say the same for my team. And I'm afraid that position is becoming more and more important in today's game.

and sadly the QB position is a spot that we struggle to recruit well in.
