1/9 games
3 big games tonight..
Georgetown @ St Johns- might be a must win for St John's- to just make the NIT. They're going to need like at least 7 wins to get to the NIT I think. Might need 8. Georgetown with a chance to get a 2nd win on the road. Ewing/Mullin should be fun
Butler @ Creighton- should be a good game- Butler looking to avoid a 3 game losing streak. Think I heard dollar beer night at Creighton. The atmosphere should be halfway decent.
Seton Hall @ Marquette- huge game for Marquette I think. They already lost to Xavier and Nova so a loss here and they're 0-3 vs top 4 teams. For Seton Hall a win and they're 2 games up in the loss column on the loser of Xavier/Villanova, with a home game with Georgetown on Saturday.
I think St John's/Creighton/Seton Hall win.

RE: 1/9 games
I wouldn't be shocked if both Mullin and Ewing got into it tonight during the game. Not only do they have a great rivalry, but they understand the TV-aspect of what made the Big East great.
Each game, IMO, is a tossup. Every game has a big-time feel atmosphere - and any team has the potential to beat a top team on a given night.

Real good slate tonight. Interested to see how Seton Hall does at Marquette - Marquette can shoot the lights out and steal one against anybody, and they've played both X and Nova tough so far. Do they finally break through or is this the one where the higher-seeded team takes a big lead early and doesn't look back?

yeah Marquette will always have a shot with how insane they can shoot. I could see Seton Hall doing what Purdue did to them earlier in the season quite frankly....

RE: 1/9 games
well if there wasn't doubt before, I think you can pretty much put a seal on the St John's season. It's gonna be a stretch for them to even make the NIT. 14 games left, and they're 9-7 going into the stretch. Have to go at least 7-7 to make the NIT now. With 7 ranked games and 2 games with Butler and 2 with Marquette left.
Creighton up big on Butler right now. Of course it being Butler, it's not over yet.
Didn't see any action yet- but Marquette up on 8 on Seton Hall. It'll be interesting to see if they can hold on.

well I think Marquette may have easily supplanted Butler as the 5th team in the tourney for the Big East. Still have work to do, but they're on their way.

Alot of basketball left, but Marquette took care of business tonight. It was definitely a big win since four of their five losses were against top-10 teams (Villanova, Xavier, Wichita State and Purdue). They are a very entertaining team to watch, and between Rowsey and Howard - if the team is on the bubble on tournament weekend - I have no doubt they get in because they are must see TV. On any night either of them can drop 30.
A very spirited and likeable team.

RE: 1/9 games
yeah Marquette really needed it(they were only 1-4 vs tier 1 opponents so far). They thought they could count on Wisconsin win to be a good one- but Wisconsin loses yet again tonight to Nebraska and is only 9-9 right now- and that win is close to being a tier 3 win.
These next 7 for Marquette are huge- both Butler games, Xavier, Nova, Seton Hall games, and then games with DePaul and Providence. The last 6 are set where they get both with St John's, along with road games with DePaul and Georgetown. So I think they can finish like no worse than 3-3. So add to that the current 3-2, and you get 6-5. I think them at 9-9 gets in, so need to go 3-4 in this stretch to feel good going into the last 6 games.

That Marquette game was a fun one, and I had a feeling they'd eventually shoot well enough to steal one against one of the top teams. Still feeling good about their chances to get one of the last at-large bids in the Big East.
