First player name alphabetically in this year's list.
He'll be Rice's 8th inductee.
Congratulations. It was about time.

Even though Chase Clement was (imo) the greatest player in Rice's history, I would say Dillard is our next best chance for this honor. He holds two all-time college football records, one with Clement and one with his brother.

Was Steve Kidd ever inducted or ever a choice? Forgot the coaches.
How is his health now? I recall there were some issues.
I remember when he got some Heisman buzz, the Athletic Department was asked if they would mount a campaign for him. They said they would let his performance speak for itself.

Wouldn't want the appearance of sandwich-boarding.

Dillard’s records with Clement and his brother are interesting, but to me, his bigger bullet-point is being #1 in career receiving TDs at the FBS level, 8 TDs ahead of #2.
He’s also in the top 20 in career receiving yards.
That he spent 1/4 of his career playing in the wishbone makes his numbers even crazier.
Anyway, congratulations to Trevor Cobb, and lol to the post about sandwich boards.

RE: Trevor Cobb HOF
My favorite announcer comment (probably scripted) about Cobb came from Brent Musburger, I believe, when announcing he had won the Doak Walker award (as best RB) in 1991. He said something along the lines of "Trevor Cobb could find daylight on the dark side of the moon."

On the Bama -Georgia pregame they showed an interview with Trevor about making the HOF. One thing I'll always remember about Trevor was in practice he took every handoff all the way to the endzone.

One of my friends (a Rice alumnus) pointed out that Trevor put up his numbers against SWC schools. They tried to stop him & couldn't. Maybe the best footballer Rice ever had.

FYI, according to the CFHOF Wikipedia page, here's a list of the 25 schools with the most inductees:
45 - Notre Dame
40 - USC
32 - Michigan
28 - Tennessee
25 - Ohio State
25 - Yale
24 - Army
24 - Princeton
20 - Alabama
20 - Navy
20 - Oklahoma
19 - Penn State
18 - Harvard
18 - Minnesota
18 - Nebraska
18 - Penn
18 - Pittsburgh
18 - Stanford
17 - Texas
16 - California
15 - Northwestern
15 - Washington
14 - Georgia
14 - Georgia Tech
13 - Wisconsin
Georgia Tech also has 13 ... and Vanderbilt has 4.

Quite possibly true. IIRC, He put some pretty good numbers up against some of the best teams of the time, too, including top-10 teams in TAMU (#12) and Baylor (#8). His primary competition for the Doak Walker award was Marshall Faulk.
I found a stat sheet for 1991 ( here) ... here were his game-by-game rushing stats:
Code:
G Date Day School Opponent Carries-Yards
1 Sep 14, 1991 Sat Rice @ Northwestern 25-193$$$ 7.72YPC
2 Sep 21, 1991 Sat Rice @ Tulane 36-216$$$ 6.00YPC
3 Sep 28, 1991 Sat Rice Iowa State 42-240$$ 5376YPC
4 Oct 5, 1991 Sat Rice @ Texas 28-68 2.42YPC
5 Oct 12, 1991 Sat Rice @ (8) Baylor 34-171$ 5.02YPC
6 Oct 19, 1991 Sat Rice Texas Christian 33-121$ 3.67YPC
7 Oct 26, 1991 Sat Rice @ Texas Tech 29-116$ 4.00YPC
8 Nov 2, 1991 Sat Rice (12) Texas A&M 31-111 3.58YPC
9 Nov 9, 1991 Sat Rice @ SMU 41-203$$ 4.95YPC
10 Nov 16, 1991 Sat Rice Houston 40-163$ 4.08YPC
11 Nov 23, 1991 Sat Rice @ Arkansas 21-90 4.29YPC
in 1990, he was 29-132 against TAMU and 35-153* against Arkansas.
