ND - Compton Family Ice Arena
The other day I walked into some ND/M hockey tickets for today.

If WMU ever gets a new hockey arena, I hope they consider the design of Compton. Very nicely appointed arena.

However, the atmosphere atKawson is superior due to the fan base. The ND fans were very casual...it was just an event to attend. I doubt many of them even realized that their team is one of the best in the nation. It was an odd atmosphere.

At any rate, it was a nice day.

Hockey is always a strange spectator sport in Indiana, no matter how well ND does. They don't latch onto it like they do ND football and basketball. They get good to great crowds when the team is doing well, but it's not exactly a rambunctious atmosphere.

Exactly. It was just extremely odd.

ND spent $50 million on that facility. They just spent $450m+ to renovate ND Stadium. You won't ever see those expendures at WMU. Lawson was renovated a few years ago, it needs chairback seating and the walls opened up as you enter. This would ease the crowded "tunnel" along the restrooms and concession giving it an updated lobby look. Lawson was a duo purpose building when it opened in 1974 when varsity swimming was still a D1 sport on campus.
