New Media deal for 2018 and beyond?
Hi everyone! I was just curious whether anyone has any insight about C-USA's next Media deal. Any ideas which platorms and companies may be used? Length of deal? Payouts? Requirements of weekday games?

My guess is pretty much all digital except the tournament and championship games.

If its Stadium website then zero TV, entire first half of WKU game tonight was not on and then spotty at best after that...Weird considering when Stadium games are on Facebook and Twitter I have had zero issues...

That's what the Mountain West is planning on doing, right? Supposedly they want to do it through Stadium and/or Facebook Live, and the hope is to recapture whatever lost revenue they'd have from TV by having games at times their fans can attend them. (Not super late on Saturdays, not during the week).

Has any news come out about it for C-USA? I would have thought there would be some kind of update out of the league office by now.

I think we get coffee mugs for all head coaches, free bus passes (good for weekends only) for assistant coaches and all our games will be broadcast internationally over telegraph.

I dont think they are "planning" on doing it. I'd say they are "threatening" to do it. I mean--you are correct in that they are certainly preparing for that possibility. I think they will only go all digital if they have to--but I think its more a ploy to get a nice raise and to get more control over how many games they play late at night. Apparently the late night games are eroding their attendance. The MW schools would like to significantly reduce the number of late night games they play.

We just got an exclusive deal to be on the 127th most watched channel in Siberia and the 230th most watched network in Pakistan.

If you have a HAM radio, crystal ball or an ouija board, then you will be able to get at least 1 game per year.

P7 y'all!

Judy has ghosted us

When you let FCS Conferences have better tv coverage than CUSA she should be let go, Never liked her hire from the start

Conference champions get one of those little cars that Judy rides around in at media events. They have to take turns riding in it.
Media? This website. This one. The one you're reading. That's our coverage.

RE: New Media deal for 2018 and beyond?
I just "cut the cord" this week. I went to add sling sport package and it had a lot of stadium "tba" content. That + BeIn as well.

Didn't add it though because currently if I wanted to watch ODU it's either espn3, cusav, stadium or bein. It'll be nice if they can just get a single digital provider and be done with it. Right now it's a musical chairs of digital content.

I understand it's super new so that's not on the league. But the dust is settling a bit so pick something and do a 1 year deal and see how it goes.

There may have been technical issues with Stadium yesterday, but that is the exception not the rule, as far as I have seen so far. I have thought their broadcasts so far have been fantastic and actually prefer them to traditional TV coverage. I don't see how they are going to make money though without commercials.

My gut is telling me Stadium pairs up with Sling or the likes and you have to go through some sort of service like that going forward. Otherwise I'm with you. I'm not sure how they make money. You want to watch Stadium? Gotta go through Vue, Sling, Youtube TV, Hulu Live, DirecTV Now, whatnot. Or watch free on Facebook or Twitter but you get ads.

RE: New Media deal for 2018 and beyond?
To hell with all these obscure networks who don't pay anything. Let's create our own CUSA channel and play our games whenever we want. Fans need to get their butts to the game. If fans want to watch from home, charge them the same amount as a ticket would cost them at the gate. There's no TV money for us anymore. We've got to fill our stadiums. Why we keep bending over for bad TV networks is beyond me. We should all own the rights to our home games. If there's an attractive matchup, sell the rights to the highest bidder if you want, and get yourself on regional or national television once or twice a year. No one is watching Bein or Stadium, it doesn't pay, and it's hurting attendance.

I say we give our games away to any major network (ESPN, FOX, NBC, CBS) for free. All the games they don't pick up go on our digital network of the quality of the the OVC Digital Network. Forget about the measily $200,000 or whatever were getting in TV rights. The exposure on major networks is preferable.

RE: New Media deal for 2018 and beyond?
We must have our own channel. If that is not the wave of the future why are the P5 going in that direction. Sure we won't get the money they get. But we are not getting much money now. If We create a first class channel that is all about CUSA and give our fans an opportunity to buy in we may be surprised at how our fan base buys in.

If recruits can tell their family and friends they will be able to follow them one channel. And recruits and coaches can follow us on one channel it's got to better than what we have now. Better than that let schools provide coaches in their area free access to the channel.
