Sat down and really thought about this. Tried to evaluate each in a vacuum of who would be the best regardless of the team around them. I voted for Vad Lee given that criteria.

Put either of them on either of these teams the last two seasons and I don't think there's a question that the team improves. Put Schor on any of their teams (which actually did happen two seasons ago...) and I think it's very likely the team gets worse.

That's not fair. EW and his staff didn't give Schor a chance in he11. They completely went away from what they had been doing after VL went down (except for the remainder of that RU game where Bryan played well) and had there not been a snap over his head, we may have had a different outcome in that game. VL himself had mastered the jump for the "never-ending" high snaps that the coaches refused to correct. The play calling completely changed for the games after the Ticks beat us.

The quality of football in FCS/1AA has declined remarkably since the days of Cawley. Not necessarily at JMU, but the best teams have left for FBS and the talent has been diluted as more scholarships have opened-up at FBS level.

The lineman are bigger & the players a little faster than they were from the days of Cawley (22-24 years ago). Despite all the moveups, top teams from now (JMU & NDSU) would roll the top teams from 20 years ago IMHOP.

Hard to believe our best QB was not even first team all CAA as a senior.

I love Brian but he turned the ball over a lot this year including yesterday.

I will admit, in my 13 years of following JMU football, Schor may be the QB who has thrown the most INT per game than any we've seen in that time frame. It was definitely his biggest flaw.

I think he threw at least one INT in every game this year except 2 or 3. Out of 15!

Yep. Only 3 games that didn't were @ URI, SBU, SDSU.

Regular season 9 games threw 1, @ W&M threw 2, and @ URI 0.

1st 3 playoff games only the pick on the opening possession vs Weber..

Passing 26 TDs, 14 INTs on season, 65%. Good, but not great #s.

I voted Cawley, since I know due to recency bias he's not getting the votes he deserves..

Jeremyboz,
Did you remember who Tom Bowles was or did you see him on an old roster? Brought back some memories. He QB'd Henrico high school back in the day.
If you include Tom in your poll, you should have included Frankie Walker. What a character!
Even though he has not rec'd any votes, I always thought Drew Dudzik was a Russell Wilson type of QB. He was very athletic and always seemed to make things happen.

I agree. I remember his play in the semi-final and the next year at Maryland (both games that we should have won due to no fault of Drew). Unfortunately, MM's love affair with Thorpe and the platooning of Thorpe and Drew really affected Drew's career. We probably would have gotten into the playoffs his junior and senior seasons had MM stuck with him.

RE: Who is the greatest Quarterback in JMU history?
That's why I decided to step back and look at it the way I did. Based purely upon who would succeed regards of everything else around them I would vote as follows:

1. Vad Lee
2. Bryon Schor
3. Justin Rascati
4. Rodney Landers.

(i'm only going back to 2003 when I started at JMU)

Schor has been amazing, but personally.. I would love to have seen what Vad Lee could've done on the past 2 teams with the current staff.

Bryan Schor won more national championships than Vad Lee did playoff games at JMU. I believe Vad was instrumental in the development and progression of Schor, but Schor stands alone in my opinion.

Agreed on the accomplishments.

But if you put Vad Lee on the 2016-2017 JMU teams, are those offenses better or worse?

That's the question I can't get past. Probably because I saw opportunities for him to burn NDSU yesterday and I'm not over it yet, but still wish he had at least had 1 year with HCMH vs EW.

Schor also lost more playoff games than Vad Lee did

I am right there with you pard. Although I can't help but feel that if #7 had brought his A game on Saturday, Dukes win 27-17 again. Particularly the second drop which changed the entire complexion of the game, that second drop was just bad. He catches either of those balls and we're talking about back to backers.

Again, the poll was about JMU not about the NFL. That keeps Cawley from the top (or even top 3), Rascati, Landers, and Schor took JMU to the peak or almost the peak (we were #1 for a long time, right up to the Montana loss with Landers). Were we ever top 10 with Cawley?
Cawley obviously didn't have the coaching staff in his senior year the other 3 did. Does that make him an inferior QB? Cawley was the most talented QB.

No votes for Pink Floyd's Roger Waters? He did have a cannon arm.

Had Rodney had the defense Schor had, he would have a national championship too. I have never seen a QB take over a game like Rodney. It could be 3rd and 17 and you knew he would convert.
