RE: MBB: Delaware at Dukes, Saturday, 4pm, MadiZone
Refs were extra terrible, they had Phillips ready to snap. Rowe got in his face and I think Wilson's too, pretty loudly. Regardless, another stunning collapse. And WTF with today's pep band consisting of 1 bassist, 2 guitarists, 1 drummer and 1 trumpet???

Lack of talent is not why we are losing. Coaching, coaching, coaching is holding this team down.
I wasn’t surprised one bit that we lost this game. At this point there is no lead that would keep us safe. The worst part is that our staff does nothing to stop the bleeding.
Rowe blamed himself against W&M. Apparently he doesn’t learn from his mistakes.

The pep band has been castrated.... what a shame. The only thing worse is the poor coaching coming from JMU's bench.

While the collapse wasn’t as bad as 2 days ago, the Dukes lost another home game. This time against a team that is very beatable and likely ends up in the bottom half of the CAA despite their 4-2 start.
The game was in hand. Finish the game with instructions for Mosley to dribble drive every possession and he would have ended up with tons of points from FT’s. If you are going to lose a lead, at least make sure you go down with your best offensive player driving and forcing the refs to call fouls.
Rowe is knock, knock, knocking on Keener’s door.

The pep band was low because the MRDs are in the inauguration parade in Richmond.

If this team keeps losing, the current highly regarded players will transfer. It will be hard to recover from it.

You may be right but there are a lot of variables for why kids transfer and playing time is as much of one as winning. These kids are all getting tons of opportunities- it's their team- there is some pride that comes along with that. I do believe they need to start showing improvement as a group in terms of wins and losses so they have something to build on and don't start getting too frustrated.

With the foul trouble the last couple games, I think the team has missed a more experienced and capable option like Scissum. Jones had some rebounds yesterday, but he's an offensive liability. Really too bad Scissum left the team.

I don’t see anyone transferring. Two graduate and two will be Seniors next year. The two rising Seniors are starting. All five Freshmen are starting or playing significant minutes. The guys on the team are the ones losing the leads late in games.
We can all finger point at the coach which is fair but the players are the ones on the court. Go get a rebound. Make your free throws. Stop your guy from scoring. There is a lot these guys are not doing late in games that they do early in games.
They need to stop worrying about the scoreboard a play all 60 minutes the same way.

Delaware's talent level doesn't wow you, yet among their top players are three Freshman and a Sophomore. The way that they play defense, they'll give up some threes but they clog the middle of the floor always, taking away penetration to the basket, somewhat akin to how I've seen Golden State play last season in the NBA. Rowe commented after the game how well coached they were and how good their defense was. In any event, with a young roster, Delaware has a winning record.
