RE: The Dragons
Switched over after the Bills loss ... down by ten. Figured they were due for a letdown game.
Boxed up some stuff ... stole a glance at the TV ... they were up by ten.
I could only laugh.
I don't think I've ever laughed for this reason in all the years of watching Tribe hoops.
This is so enjoyable to watch.
What a team!

So you say. I've been around long enough to not know what to expect in a road game. Friday was more an outlier than the norm.
This has the feel of a letdown game to me. I hope I'm wrong and we come back with the road trip sweep.

WOW!
Just to be clear, he said "[David] is playing as well as any point guard I've ever coached."

RE: The Dragons
Defense is definitely improving both on the individual and team level. Still a ways to go, but any improvement is huge given our offensive prowess.
I'm particularly happy to see Nathan improve his defense. He has not picked up any silly fouls the last few games. He's doing a great job of challenging/blocking shots without fouling and is doing a much better job of staying in position to play help defense.
As a unit, I'm seeing more energy and much more active hands.
Shaver lamented the uptick in fouls, but I agree with him, that while fouling is not ideal, at least its symptomatic of greater intensity and effort on defense. I'll trade a few more fouls a game in order to challenge more shots or prevent layups.

That’s what he said on the video post game. I think he toned it down from what he told Jay on the radio. I remember him using the word ‘best.’

RE: The Dragons
1. The team is 11-4, 4-0 to lead CAA including three road wins consecutively in five days
2. They are playing sensational team basketball, exciting to watch
3. The team has TWO potential POY: David Cohn is playing out of his mind and has elevated his
overall game from good to sensational. Nathan Knight is playing like what he is--the best big man
ever at W&M and seemingly gets better every game
4. Milon is the deadly assassin for this team--it's more than his three-point shooting; he's driving
more, passing well and is rugged on defense. Tenacious and hard-nosed every second on the court.
5. Pierce is Terry Tarpey II except he's two inches taller and a better shooter. He is all over the court,
never lets his motor slow down, and is ferocious every game on the boards
6. Burchfield has actually stepped up his game in addition top the three-point shooting. Moving
much better on the court, garnering assists, and somehow looks faster
Sure, the bench is short and they have some defensive problems. But they play as a team, share the ball, have a relentless mentality, and never stop playing.
I say just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I see. Tony has had some great PG. That's quite a statement and probably speaks more to David's leadership and unselfish play than anything. He will own most assist and assists to turnover ratio records by the end of the season. That with his exceptional ball handling skills certainly makes him worthy of such praise.

“Their version of a layup is a wide-open three,” Drexel coach Zach Spiker said of the Tribe.

That’s a great quote ... I had a teammate in HS who would always say, “I’ll start dunking when it’s worth 3 points.”
This team is incredibly hard to guard right now with David’s exceptional quickness and penetration (to both score and dish), Nathan’s dominating interior game and stable of back to the basket and face up moves, our gunners from 3, and the backdoor cuts out of our natural offense.
It’s almost unstoppable when we run our offense right.

I think it is interesting the reference the school makes to 4-0 being the best conference start in the CAA for the men's hoops team. I always think of the CAA as just a continuation of the old ECAC South and the Indians were a perfect 9-0 in the regular season in the 1982-83 season. You could even stretch that to 10-0 when you include the win over ECU in the tournament. But then that damn game against JMU in the finals. I've never liked the Robbins Center after that game.
I was so happy when they instituted the shot clock in college hoops.

David has already passed (literally) all but Scott Coval (409) on the career assists list. He is sitting on 385 in only 77 career games, for a tidy game average of exactly 5. He already had a wide lead in the career game average. This year he is averaging 6.8 per game, the current record being Coval's 6.22 in 1985. His career A/TO ratio is by far ahead of the pack, but this year his ratio actually a bit behind the top top two years on the books, Cohn in 2016 and Cohn in 2017.
