The budgets of all the Michigan MAC schools are taking serious hits. Eastern is looking at a five million dollar deficit. Enrollments are down. Eastern doesn't have an extra $500 thousand just sitting around to use on coaching salaries.

Ken Bob has no dollars to spare he donated to buy out Kenos contract
Reminder: Keno Davis was NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR and has done a much better job at CMU than Rob "I only know zone defense" Murphy has done at EMU. Rob Murphy can't carry Keno Davis's jockstrap, nor any other decent coach's.

The key word is WAS national coach of the year. He did the Murphy quick fix recruiting last year with transfers and still was horrible. This year CMU is worse because his prized transfer Marcus Keene was a one and done there. Murphy lucked out with a decent first year and an irrational decision to extend his contract. Keno was probably a good coach 10 years ago and thanks to Enos leaving football he got a
similar deal at CMU. Neither are doing a very good job right now but due to University budget issues, they are likely to work until their contracts expire. Steve Hawkins at WMU is loving it!

Yup. The Keno love is quite literally about 'resting on laurels'. Keno has not done well in the MAC (40-62 MAC record), has not won the MAC tourney, and has not won a post-season game.
I don't love what Murphy has done at EMU, but it is actually comparable to what Keno has done at CMU. Murphy has a better MAC record (56-61), and has won a post-season game (albeit the in the CIBITI).
TL:DR If Murphy stinks as a MAC coach, then so does Keno.

Bingo

Agree - both coaches are bad for the MAC Conference.
