They went from, "oh that's clearly not a fumble" prior to the call to "well they felt they didn't have enough to overturn the call on the field" after the blown call. Commentators, at least at ESPN, always give the officials the benefit of the doubt, no matter what. That's part of what was refreshing about those two commentators who called our games with Learfield and MASN during the regular season. They wouldn't sugar coat a bad call. They'd said, "i'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree here. that should've been called the other way. It's unfortunate when calls like that negatively impact a game". Commentators always try to spin something at times to lessen the perceived impact.
