I thought Hefter had the best game. Shon’s accuracy is still missing on a lot of passes.

A beautiful day and good crowd.

Yeah. I'm hoping our defense is very very good because most of the QBs struggled quite a bit. Hefter seemed like the only one to get into a rhythm.

RE: Spring Game 2018
Offense sputtered all day..no qb made you think the problem from last year is yet behind us. Funderburke and Dedmon played sparingly. More work to do during the summer and fall practice.

Defense had some good hits and showed some speed at safety and linebacker.

We did not score an offensive td and the defense had one with a pass interception for a TD.

Spring Game 2018
Always...always super impressed by our players. The whole autograph row couldn't have been nicer. My boys really enjoyed that.

Great crowd.

I thought the OL looked great. I can't imagine JL naming a starter at QB at this point. I foresee a lot of rushes...studs in the backfield. Owen Wright is a beast and Albert/Nate are going to crush.

Love the choices for captains. I see all three as real leaders who play 100% at all times. You wouldn't look at any of them and assume they're the best players at their positions but effort and skill make them captain material. Congrats to all three.

RE: Spring Game 2018
As far as QBs go - Hefter impressed me the most, just think he needed to calm down on some of his throws, but love the energy he brings on the field.

As mentioned our RBs impressed. Even without Giles they will be a strength this year. We saw a lot of the backups today and they looked capable to me.

Secondary was breaking well on a lot of balls, some of it can probably be attributed to poor QB throws/decisions but still nice to see. Hopefully the offense can find an identity and rhythm, but I see us leaning on this defense to make plays and keep us in games.

Great weather, great crowd, can’t wait for September 1. Go Tribe.

RE: Spring Game 2018
The QBs all showed that they had the ability to throw outs, underneath throws, and crossing patterns. The long balls weren't so good other than the one Rotger underthrew and Watson came back for.

The big thing I noticed with Rotger and Mitchell was that they had runs up field that were blown dead. Other than Battle, all of the QBs that played have legs to help us also. Zone reads all went to the RB.

Can't wait to see them play a real game.

It couldn't have been a better day for the fans and there was a big turn out.

Battle had a great deep ball toward the end. DPI called on what would have been a TD.

Back-up safeties showed really well. Rfr. Gage Herdman with a highlight reel break-up in the first half, and a tremendous INT in the second. 6'3" 215 and can run.

About what you'd expect to hear from JL's postgame:

QBs need work. Decision-making an issue for some. Have the tools.

OL made some mistakes

Defense is about set as far as personnel and ahead of the offense

Pleased with running game and thinks we will be more explosive on offense with DD and JC. Also gave kudos to some other WRs.

He is a ton of fun to watch. High praise from Swinton and Caskin when they were in the booth. I hope we can find a spot for him to play next year.

Nice size, and looked quick. Defense still young, but many have logged a lot of playing time. If they can stay healthy, and players can rotate, look for a good year from the D. Need more pass rush this year.

Well, yeah, always good to get more pass rush. But our D ranked 3rd in the CAA in sacks last year.

That's because opponents just ran most of the 2nd half.

Need to get off the QB fence and get some identity.

JL can't name a starter at this point if no QB separated from the group. I think this thing is going to drag out for a few more months. There's no use in naming a guy now and giving him first team reps for the next 4 months if he's not the player we need under center.

Hard to believe we once had Corley and Campbell on the same roster.

Agreed. I see no reason to name a starter out of those performances yesterday. Also hard to evaluate when a very good D-line is going against a young and injured O-line and the QB was running for his life all game.

I think you’re supporting my point that the pass rush was pretty good or better than that last year. Correct?

RE: Spring Game 2018
I really don't have any inside information here but watching the game it certainly feels like Mitchell is either being asked to do more or is trying to do more. I noticed that a lot of our most successful passing plays ended up being check downs to TEs or misdirection screens to RBs. But it always seemed like Shon had them later in his progression than the other QBs. Again, it's a Spring Game so it is tough to tell but if the staff is levying additional expectations on Mitchell's shoulders that could be a sign of confidence.

In post game interview JL reference that Shon needs to improve his decision making and has the physical abilities at the QB. I give Hefter the slight lead in this QB race.

I think, of the three captains, Jack is the lone walk on. We've all said it a million times...the success of our walk ons sustains our program. Credit to our staff for finding them and credit to our players for digging in and earning spots.
