I get he won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay.... but is he really worth a 10yr/$100M contract?

No. For the Raiders? Yes. Why? Because they're willing to write the checks.

RE: Gruden to be the Raiders coach
"Worth it" only because that much money was required to get Gruden away from a job where all he had to do for $7 million/year was talk.

Dick Vermeil is the only NFL coach I can think of who had success again after being out of coaching for so long.

A lot of this is marketing, though. The hope is that Gruden will sell tickets by being the face of the franchise. The sportswriter Sam Farmer once joked that to sell tickets to corporations and broaden their fan base, the Raiders would have to adopt a family-friendly version of their image, changing their image from the Black Hole to "Pirates of the Caribbean". Gruden is perfect for that, if the Raiders win enough. Gruden can be "Pirates of the Caribbean" without alienating the Black Hole diehards.

He's got to be the most overrated coach of all-time. You take that SB year out he is basically a .500 coach.

Are there any corporation besides the casinos in LV that the Raiders can attract?
