Wow, what a nail biter down the stretch. I thought we had it in the bag with a 44 - 38 lead with 2:30 left, but that's when the refs took over the game, and tried their best to hand it to the home team.

Erica was only 2-12 from the floor, and was only 1-4 from the charity stripe before hitting her last clutch 5 FTs inn the final minute of play (twice when we were behind by one). She also pulled down 17 boards.

Hard fought road victory against a solid UNT squad that had excelled at home so far this year.

Also noticed from the box score that Sydne Wiggins got 7 minutes and a couple rebounds.

Good win to get, even if it was ugly.

I would. Showing the ability not to give up after losing a late lead shows a lot of character. And then making 2 or 3 free throws when it's absolutely on the line (and she made 2 before that with 11 seconds to go) shows you have the ability to win the tight games you're going to invariably see in conference play.

A couple of breathers coming up before a semi-tough one at FIU. But they could easily be 15-2 when they play UTEP at home which is the next hard one probably. Hopefully Olivia Ogwumike can return shortly and they can start getting nice crowds.

Next year could be very special. Hopefully Coach Langley realizes that (I suspect she does). Already a few decent jobs are open, such as Texas Tech.

No foul when Nicole hit in the face on the drive or when the ball was thrown at her on the ground. Also no foul on the push in the back against Chrisman on the loose ball. Just poorly officiated throughout. But a really messy effort by the Owls with so many turnovers and shot clock violations, but in the end this team just finds a way to win. Super pass from Nicole at the end.

Just 25 bench minutes. Would imagine the team might be gassed on Sunday.

Wish we could have gone tonight, but family was sick. We are definitely looking forward to the conference tourney in Frisco.

The follow through on the right cross against Chrisman was nothing short of vicious--- ditto for extra hard ball slam against sprawled IadeMarco. Local refs left the muggings go unpunished, resulting in an "ugly" "game". We need Olivia Ogwumike at next UNT game, not for payback, but for respect.

UTSA is 2-13. They're probably not as bad as their record indicates (they only lost by 8 tonight at La Tech and had a fairly late 4th quarter lead) but I still imagine we'll be able to play our 4 (?) reserves a bunch more Sunday.

After last night’s game Massey moves us up to #88, now 2nd in C-USA only to WKU (44). Both significantly still underrated IMO, but at least Massey is starting to come around a bit.

Good comment about Olivia. Being an old hockey referee what struck me about h officiating was how much it looked like inexperienced hockey refs who fail to read the chipiness of the game and help turn it into a brawl.

A comment that stuck with me is that rules will be enforced, whether by the referee or not. When it's not the referee, those are the games that turn to ****.

Anyone still wondering why some of us are so giddy about the future (and present) of Rice WBB, two of our incoming recruits were just named McDonald All-Americans. And next year we also get the 6'9" transfer from Oklahoma who is sitting out this season...

I think the women’s b-ball team will be our best program next year.

But... big difference between nominated and named. I believe Chad Lott was also nominated.

More than 700 male and female players are nominated. The final 24 boys and 24 girls will be announced on Jan. 16th.

One must read the Rice release very carefully. Its first sentence is easy to misinterpret: "... were both named McDonald’s All-American Game nominees ..."

I wonder why our writer didn't choose "were both nominated for McDonald’s All-American Game."

Here's a link to the McDonald's news release: https://www.mcdonaldsallamerican.com/con...TIONAL.pdf

And the list of 700+ nominees ("boys" and "girls"): http://www.mcdonaldsallamerican.com/cont...s-List.pdf

"High school players from Texas received the most nominations (89), followed by
California (48) and Florida (40)."
