Yeah, I recall that Opelt had an absolute cannon for an arm. Did he get any looks at the next level?

I think it is a stretch to say Opelt was more talented than Bruce or Logan. I know it is all subjective with various factors being introduced, but I don't think it is even close. Opelt is #6 on the all-time passing list with 6,804yds. Gradkowski had 9,225 and of course Woodside went over 10,000 this past year. Gradkowski has 3 seasons in the Top 10 single season records. Opelt did not have 1 season in the Top 10. (Gradkowski lost the 10th spot this year, but still has #3 and #5) Woodside also has 2 seasons in the Top 10. they both have almost double the number of TD passes. All three have 3 games in the Top 10 passing yards in a single game (Only Terrence Owens was able to break their strangle hold on that record) Gradkowski also had about double the rushing yards as Opelt. Woodside? - not even close.

I didn't look up the number of games played which can affect stats - along with the teammates you had available to play with. I would say Opelt had some tremendous games, but also a few really bad ones. Woodside and Gradkowski were more consistent.

If you went solely on stats, you would think of Owens as being the 3rd best QB in Toledo history, but he probably doesn't make the top 7. May have had the strongest arm though.

Toledo has a losing record against only one current MAC team - and they are sub .500 by 6 games. Do you know who it is? I had an idea, but tripped across this looking up the passing stats.

Toledo is now 39-39-4 against BG. so it is not BG.

Not sure how many games Opelt played but it wasn't many
