I think this an unfair assessment of the poster's intentions. He wasn't questioning the character of the player, he was simply saying none of us have any idea why Hueitt isn't earning more playing time. None of us have all of the facts. The coaches see these kids every single day at practice. They are making decisions regarding playing time accordingly.

I understand that some fans think MHJ should get more PT. Frankly, I'm probably in that camp. But, to believe Jones is just holding him back arbitrarily is just silly.
Well, I think my take is much more reasonable since JJ has a history of making players sit early in their careers for reasons nobody else can see. Also, Dave T has basically said MHJ should play more, and he is at practice all the time. I'm tired of the "well, you don't know everything, maybe the player is a piece of ****" argument every time JJ is called out for his crazy decisions on playing time for young/new players.

On the radio broadcast Dave essentially said he needs to earn the respect In practice to earn more trust . Effort seems to be lacking ..

He’s young - perhaps just a maturity issue. Not uncommon for someone who is 18-19.

What’s MH like in practice?
Don't care. Some players perform better in game situations. Reports are that TH was that type of player. If Wilder took the Jones approach he would have sat until his junior year. Players who are electric sometimes are unable to really shine in the heavily scripted scenarios practice brings. Isn't it really about how you perform in games? He has done well enough in the ones Jones has been generous enough to let him play in to show that he absolutely would not hurt the team playing at least a couple short rotations.

So if he dogs it everyday, gives minimal effort, etc in practice it doesn’t matter because it’s practice? Your hatred for Jones is at a different level if you think a kid should be AI mode when it comes to practice.

Disclaimer: I do not know how the kid is in practice, just pointing out that we only see one side.
There is no indication that "dogging it everyday" is the issue. There is no indication that there is an attitude problem. If there were issues like those, I doubt very seriously he would be first off the bench in garbage time everytime. Why are you willing to question a kids character just to defend your buddy, JJ?

Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

Damn you’re absolutely a pain. You seriously come on here to argue and then get pissy when someone points out that you have no idea what he does or doesn’t do in practice.

And go ahead and show me where i questioned a kid’s character? I’ll wait

Someone makes a sensible (some would say obvious) point, and this is your retort?

I thought the notion of shutting down opinions with which you disagree was a problem for you guys on the anti-Jones crusade.
You missed the mark on this one. If your retort to an opinion that is based in historical evidence, albeit anecdotal, is to raise the idea that a player is dogging it, and that there may be an equivalence to AI, you are the one that is off base. It's not like this is the first player we have seen this happen to. JJ is who he is. You can argue whether that is good or bad, but you are ignoring reality if you are making up possible scenarios that would reflect poorly on a player, who by all accounts is a good kid, in order to defend him.

Kah. Haynes. Porter didn't play enough last year. Hell this entire season is proof that JJ's obsession with playing JB and Denzel a million minutes was misguided. We have the same basic players playing except that Porter has replaced Denzel and Haynes has replaced JB and like magic we are significantly better.

Well, you're forgetting that Green is playing a ton. Also, are we to assume that Ahmad and the Stiths didn't improve at all since last year?

From the post on this thread that offended you so:

"Disclaimer: I do not know how the kid is in practice, just pointing out that we only see one side."

It seems to me that, as between these two posts, yours is the only one that is categorically assuming facts -- i.e., "ignoring reality".

Unless you are attending practices, or have some reliable inside source, then you are in no better position than any of the rest of us to know what the players do or fail to do that earns them p.t. in the eyes of Coach Jones.

The fact that MHJ, as a true freshman, is getting any minutes is a pretty fair indication that he is, as you say, a good, hardworking player. Literally no one has said otherwise. That unpleasant accusation sprung entirely from you -- simply because you have some need to paint Coach Jones as some kind of cartoon villain.

Maybe he is. But I see no indication of that. What instead I see are all of our players, starters and bench alike, coming out and giving their utmost in every game. Everyone of them jumping up to congratulate their mates when someone plays well. No one going off to sulk by himself.

Perhaps we just have a higher quality set of kids, who are able to shake off the irrational and abusive behavior of their head coach. Or perhaps it just may be that the head coach is not anything like what you assume him to be.

Neither of us know. But, to the extent that your aim is to lobby for a new coach at the end of the season, I'll gently suggest that your over-the-top, assume-the-worst posts have the opposite effect. They cause me, who was not a fan of the Jones hire, to find myself defending him.

So what is going on with Brandon Stith? Not scoring or rebounding, committing turnovers and fouling? There is room for both him and Porter to do their thing. Sure would feel much better about this team if Brandon played like he is capable of playing. This is a really good team that is playing well together, just need Brandon to check back in! He is more than capable of doing so.

Great post Adopted.

If Heuitt is gonna get 7 minutes, we need something on the stat line from him. I just looked, all zeros besides getting a 1 under fouls. Glad he got to play but need a rebound or an assist or something.

I love the quote on ODU sports from coach Jones about how big a game it is coming up against Western Kentucky Thursday. He's asking for fans to please come out and please be loud. Get the feeling he wants this one!

Brandon supposedly injured his shoulder the othrer night and that could explain last nights lack of production. However, it seems prior to that he has fallen off as well. Really need him to pick it up. Seems with Porter playing so well other teams will have to pay more attention to Trey which should open Brandon up some. Sure hope he rises to the challenge.
Little disappointed in Carver last night. Missed a bunny and made a couple of poor passes to TP. Same with Haynes. He sems like the kind who can make either a spectacular or bonehead play at any moment. Needs more consistency.
What's up with Cavers floater?? How many did he miss??

Playing sound defense and giving a teammate some much needed rest doesn't always show up in a stat line. Had he shot more he probably would have had more of a stat line. I would counter that everyone in the box score contributed to the only stat that matters. The team got the win.

Good point about Brandon playing hurt last night. With a sore shoulder he still hit the floor hard for a couple of loose balls and pulled down a couple of manly rebounds in traffic late in the game. Through 15 games he is still our leading rebounder. Between Brandon and Porter, I think Brandon is the one that has needed to adapt more on defense since Porter is playing the post when he is in. I am confident Brandon will be fine as we head down the stretch of conference play. We definitely need him to step up when we face the more talented big men like WKU has.

Players develop at different rates. Haynes was pretty bad last year; inferior to Baker. Porter is limited in the number of mins he can play and was just as good as Stith last year. Kah has been discussed ad naseusm.

You dont think we are better because we had almost everyone back?

Did we score with Hueit in game last night? Im seeing 0 points per possession with him in game and we gave up 1.1

We need it to be loud. If we don't get good attendance for this game, I doubt we will for the rest of the year.
