Sure would feel much better about this team if Brandon played like he is capable of playing. This is a really good team that is playing well together, just need Brandon to check back in! He is more than capable of doing so.

Brandon supposedly injured his shoulder the othrer night and that could explain last nights lack of production. However, it seems prior to that he has fallen off as well. Really need him to pick it up. Seems with Porter playing so well other teams will have to pay more attention to Trey which should open Brandon up some. Sure hope he rises to the challenge.
Little disappointed in Carver last night. Missed a bunny and made a couple of poor passes to TP. Same with Haynes. He sems like the kind who can make either a spectacular or bonehead play at any moment. Needs more consistency.
What's up with Cavers floater?? How many did he miss??
Not sure how much of a factor it was in his play, but Haynes was playing with flu like symptoms.

If Heuitt is gonna get 7 minutes, we need something on the stat line from him. I just looked, all zeros besides getting a 1 under fouls. Glad he got to play but need a rebound or an assist or something.

Playing sound defense and giving a teammate some much needed rest doesn't always show up in a stat line. Had he shot more he probably would have had more of a stat line. I would counter that everyone in the box score contributed to the only stat that matters. The team got the win.

Did we score with Hueit in game last night? Im seeing 0 points per possession with him in game and we gave up 1.1
Well he only took one shot. He was open and you can certainly blame him for missing it, but you can't really blame him for BJ's off night (from the field) and the rest of the team throwing up bricks and missing layups while he was in the game.

His in-game inconsistency has always been there. Very frustrating to watch him make an NBA caliber move and finish, then turn around and throw the ball away.

You're right. Jones made a huge mistake leaving him in the game. What on earth was he thinking?

MHJ took only took 2 shots missed on both. 2nd one was at the buzzer to end the half and a pretty long shot. Caver hit back to back 3’s while MHJ was in the game.

Had 1 too many last night. Remember the win, but nothing specific. I am gonna go back and watch when I get some time today.

I assume you realize that my response was tongue-in-cheek. To hold an individual somehow responsible for a points-per-possession (team) stat is simply nuts. There are nine other variables running around on the court that also go into creating that fairly useless stat.

Last night Porter helped to sway that stat towards ODU when he was in the game (and especially when the team was feeding him the ball down low). Listening to the game last night I was in strong agreement with Twardzik when he said several times that they should continue to go inside to Porter until North Texas altered their defense to try to stop him. ODU probably doesn't win that game last night without Porter dominating inside like he did. Trey actually had a strong game in the post against Rice too. He set his career high with 19 points in that game, then surpassed it with yet another career high in the game last night. It's great that we have him for another season after this one ends. After that who knows what we will have to take his place. I hope it is someone that can defend, rebound, and score inside like he has been doing, otherwise we may end up much like North Texas was last night against a taller, capable, inside presence that we have problems stopping.

I missed game but notices mhj got 7 min with nothing but a pf.

You think he got gun shy while getting meaningful minutes in a close road game? A lot more pressure in a early season conference game in a long road trip. Missed it just looking at stats today, finally got internet back.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Right on! I watched the game and despite not filling up the box score, MHJ played good defense and gave us solid minutes. His one shot was barely long. I was happy with his minutes.

Yeah, he got in several games back for a few minutes and also just put up one shot. I don't know, but it could be that he is thinking about what Jones would consider a good shot to take, and what Jones might think isn't. If so then all that thinking is probably taking that shot attempt away that he otherwise would be putting up. Like I said, I don't know so this is just a guess at what could be happening. Also, when trying to earn more playing time the one thing you don't want to do is mess up when you get into the game. I think that as he gets more playing time he will be more comfortable that Jones won't pull him for making a mistake and the game will flow much easier for him.

No, not at all. He didn’t pass up on any shot he should have taken. He could have gotten a pass for a layup if I remember but we forced the shot instead of passing. Shots just weren’t there for him in the natural flow of the game. As said earlier, his second shot was a last second heave.

For someone to think the stat is meaningless would mean you dont believe individual players have an impact on points. Is this true? 7 mins is obv too small of a sample to be meaningful but someone comments was that MH was doing things to help the team when he was in the game. Doesnt seem accurate if the team didnt score.

What kind of question is that? Of course individual players can have an impact on points. It doesn't mean that every player has an impact on every point. To throw that stat in such as you did implied that all of that was on Hueitt.

How would you like to be the guy that substituted in for Trey Freeman at ODU. Bet his points per possession score would suffer in comparison to the players that were fortunate enough to be on the court when Freeman was in the game.

That is why you consider context. How did the other players fare without Freeman and how did that compare?
