Well, that is what we are discussing in the thread.

Vincent maybe, Freeman maybe.

We have 2 spots available & these 2 may fill the spots.

Yeah I don't know who these guys are.

Or some current "analysts"...

Vincent was our OC in 2014. Freeman is a local high school coach who used to coach the Johnston brothers at Spanish Fort among other players.

Seems to be a very good offensive coach.

Yeah, he won 3 state titles before he even got to Spanish Fort. He really has Thompson rolling on offense too........runs a true spread/tempo, not lip service.

There is another name out there that I will say is a similar candidate as Freeman, but he comes with plenty of off the field baggage. Has worked with Clark before...

No, I won't go there.

Clark and Propst are good friends. They never worked together anywhere, other than maybe some all-star games.

They had some all star games together.

I think he was in the running for a job at Tennessee.

Actually Clark (and John Grass) were on Propst's first staff at Ashville HC (after Clark's father retired and Propst was promoted to HC). Clark was briefly on Propst's first staff at Hoover, but he got the Prattville job before he'd even coached a game at Hoover.

Gotcha. Clark doesn't list Ashville or Hoover on his bio

Just as there is no "I" in TEAM, there is no "I" in coach staff either. The best FBHC are those best able to recognize growth potential in assistant coaches just as they must recognize the growth potential in talented high school athletes. Are they already playing / coaching at 100% of ability (as good as they can be), or do they have substantial upside potential for growth for a college team? "Plays well with others" is just as important for an assistant coach as for a player.

Probably didn't help when an assistant dog curses players when it goes against the head coach's philosophy.

Les flunked almost all of those test. Nothing innovative offensively, and had a gifted knack for pissing everybody off.

Just as FBHC Clark must recruit an eventual replacement QB, he must hire a replacement assistant coach. If Les was so bad, can Clark correct his mistake and do better next time? His success at UAB depends upon both his staff choices and his player choices.

It's an incredibly important OC hire, if he is serious about taking the program to the next level. I guess we will all know pretty soon!
