Is he likely to play tonight? I was under the impression that the ankle was going to keep him out for a while.

RE: 1/4 AAC Basketball Games
Temple fans: Explain your team to me the last season and a half. They are the weirdest team in the Conference. Now and then they look like a top 25 type team and then they get beat by crap teams on other nights.

This year Temple has wins over two top 31 kenpom teams (Auburn and Clemson). They also have 3 more wins over top 70 kenpom teams (Old Dominion, South Carolina and Wisconsin).

Of course they throw in losses to LaSalle and GW (130 and 176 kenpom respectively). They have 3 other losses to NIT/possible NCAA bubble teams and an additional loss to Villanova.

Last season Temple lost to freaking ECU twice... had several sub 100 kenpom losses... Basically got trucked in the conference, but somehow managed to beat top 4 seeded teams in Florida State and West Virginia.

Think conference tournament wins by LaSalle and GW shore up Temple's schedule and gives it a wide open shot at an at-large?

RE: 1/4 AAC Basketball Games
This is a great slate of games -- arguably 6 of the best 8 teams in the league squaring off. I have little doubt that SMU will take care of Tulane, although I think Tulane will put up a good fight. As JFlight21 mentioned earlier, Cane Broome is out and UC-Temple games are always slug fests. I think it will be a close game, and a Cincinnati win is going to require guys like Evans, Clark, and Cumberland stepping up and hitting some shots. I don't see Houston winning at the roundhouse, but stranger things have happened.

My predictions for tonight:

Wichita State 77, Houston 69
Cincinnati 61, Temple 56
SMU 67, Tulane 55

Guaranteed that 3,500+ screaming ECU fans and about 6 or 7 basketball players will be there to properly welcome the Shockers to the AAC!

You havent watched a single houston game.

Also, why couldn't these games have been on Wednesday night instead of Thursday? I'll have to watch on DVR because I have band practice tonight. 03-banghead

Temple doesn’t need a win tonight but they need to win some of these types of games if they want to make the NCAA tournament. Winning the games they’re supposed to win isn’t going to be enough and they’ve already failed at that in conference play.

The Owls have talent, but are not physically or mentally tough. This is shown by their ability to win against good teams but also why they get outrebounded by 20 many nights. A physically tough team like the Bearcats has the advantage here. Coaching is also a problem. We employ man to man 99% of the time, with zone or full court defense given as token only. On offense, the PG will dribble for 25 seconds then either try to drive through 3 defenders or make a desperate pass. We don’t pass to create gaps and we don’t effectively pick and roll. We don’t drive and dish and we don’t go inside/outside.

I really don't see how he could be ready. I saw a pic of his ankle after the Temple game and it looked like he cut open his skin and inserted a tennis ball. It did not look good. I'd rather he continue to let it rest and be truly 100% for when the Shockers travel to HTown.

Either way, WSU won't be getting a 100% healthy UH team. Breaon Brady was a major force under the basket last Saturday.

LOL. Before I moved to the East coast, I thought that the bias had to be dramatically overstated. I was wrong ... East coast bias is even worse than I thought. Folks seem to think the world ends (like Columbus' three ships falling off of a flat Earth) as you approach the Appalachians. I'll say this, I vastly preferred watching live TV on Central time for sure (EST/EDT is late). With that pedestrian (at best) thought expressed ... even less valuable predictions:

WSU 79, UH 70 (Rob Gray goes for 26+ pts ... but Landry plays much better than at UConn)

Cincinnati 66, Temple 61 (balance all the way around for Bearcats)

SMU 71, Tulane 65 (Shake makes the difference)

I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned with Houston tonight. They have the makings of a team that could give the Shockers fits with Rob Gray. That is the type of guard that tends to give us troubles, especially with our perimeter D being suspect this year.

That said, it is in Wichita. That place should be rocking about the best it has in a few years, and that is saying something because the atmosphere is always good.

I think Shockers win this one by 7. The rematch in Houston could be interesting.

Being that you live in Dallas I’m guessing you will go to the game in Houston?

SMU usually has a pretty loud and good sized crowd for it’s games there and it helps. Plenty of good seats available.
