Best of wishes to him. I hope he makes millions (and has enough good sense to get a good/honest financial advisor). He was fun to watch this year for sure.

Thats gonna hurt. Was counting on him being back. One of USMs best WRs ever, if not the best, imo.

Hope its the right decision he does great in the NFL.

With the season he just had, can't blame him for leaving early. Stock is probably as high as it will get. We'll miss him for sure.

Now you should have learned this year how bad our conference is.

no question he's in the pinkston/lipps category....

and our record next year is more about the QB position than any other position or receiver, including one as talented as Korey.

I'm aware.

But there are teams in the conference trending upwards.

We aren't one of them.

no question he's in the pinkston/lipps category....

I think he is a much better all around player than Pinkston. Pink was great, loved him, but not as solid overall, imo. Anyone can certainly debate Lipps, he did get the NFL rookie of the year. Just a diff generation, and i think if they lined up side by side at in the same era, KR would be better.

Michael "Hee-Hee" Jackson was another good one. Mike Thomas is/was another "new generation" WR that is/was very, very good. He may not be good enough to ever start in the NFL though (hard as that is for me to believe). Def hard to compare these kids today to the ones pre-2000.

Sherrod Gideon was also a badass. I think we covered the best of the best though. Deandre Brown would have most likely been the best had he remained healthy and had a better attitude / work ethic.

Here's a good question;

If you had to throw a 50 yard Hail Mary on the last play of the game, to one USM receiver, who would it be? At first...i thought KG...then DB. But damn, both Pink and MHeeHeeJ were tall and fast too.

I think KG has more fight and is more of a ball hawk and probably the toughest and strongest of all of them (which brings to mind Lipps' lack of toughness), but hard to go against a healthy DB!

RE: Korey Robertson
Lipps, Hee Hee and Pinkston had a much harder schedule....Jackson's Senior year we played Bama (won), Auburn (won), undefeated Louisville (won), Georgia (Lost by 1) MS State (lost by 3) and Va Tech (lost by 4), so with THAT schedule we were 8 points from being undefeated.

Not saying Korey wouldn't have been a force (because of course he would), but we were a run first team (even with Favor) back then---imagine what Lipps or hee Hee would do now.

Oh yeah...the game against undefeated Louisville in 1990 (the Cards went on to beat Bama in the Fiesta Bowl, I believe) drew 20,000 at MM Roberts. Notice the more things change the more they stay the same? 04-cheers

Gideon was the best receiver I've seen in the black and gold.

Among the others mentioned in this thread, Michael Thomas and Shawn Nelson belong in the conversation.

no doubt about either of those having the ability to get open and catch most tossed in their 'general' direction....

I have got to say that D.Brown in his prime was the best WR that I have ever seen. His height and speed were ridiculous. His biggest attribute was his yards after catch.. Hands down, the guy got the most yards after a catch.
Honored to have watched M. Jackson and Pinkston perform in the Black & Gold also.

no question....his freshman year was a sight to behold....it's truly a shame what happened in NOLA.....after that, he became a serious distraction and did all he could to not get injured again....that one play changed what could've been....
