i know they don't want me there, but cheap ass tickets. like a hundred bucks. we were planning a foreign excursion some place exotic like cancun which is in mexico. would be pretty neat to see the colorado river again. i forded her when she was just a pup. they got any prairie lands near austin? the wife baby and me are prairie fairies. we also like dive bars in the afternoon. please point me in the nearest direction with the smallest crowds

Keep Austin Weird is a little to pretentious of a bumper sticker to see everywhere when there....Its a really cool town if you get past the people working too hard to be casual.

Austin sucks now...cool in the 80s and 90s...now not so much. Too much traffic, too many millennial posers and California Cash Outs.

Skip BBQ in town...head to Lockhart or Luling

San Antonio is much better for touristas.

who's 'skirts got the best scenery? we'd prefer to spend a majority of the time outside the city

Head to the Hill Country. Wimberley, Marble Falls, Johnson City, Burnet, Llano....etc...

Cooper BBQ in Llano is a must do. Get the cabrito.

Go in late March...through April...wildflowers out and weather is usually great.

Austin tried to outlaw BBQ smoke in the city limits. F'n communists.

This is what happens when Kalifornians invade your state.

Fly in to Austin. See if there's a good show to check out at Stubbs. Go pay homage to Stevie Ray Vaughn along the river, then get in your car, put Robert Earl Keen, James McMurtry and Jerry Jeff Walker on repeat, and drive straight to Big Bend and Terlingua.

Haven't been to Austin since the late 80s and stayed at the Driskoll Hotel. Like most places it was probably better back in the day.

Complete BS. Austin represents Texas about as well as anywhere - has a little bit of everything. Are there too many people there now? Yes, but what big Texas city doesn’t have too many people? When a place is great, people tend to move there - also see Dallas & Houston.....

Excellent! Just played 'Merry Christmas' last week, for my family of course.

My personal favorite, primarily because it's Big Bend-centric -

Each to his own. The number of people is fine with me but Austin is about 40 square miles surrounded by reality.

Don't listen to any of these fools. Austin is very Lushtastic and San Antonio is incredibly sterile and bland.

Been here off and on for 30 years and it is just as great.

Big fan of both Austin and the Hill Country here.

Not to be missed: Garrison Brothers (Bourbon) Distillery in Hye, Tx.
Some very nice wineries out there as well.
