Who's in the white house? I'd not question who and how trump hires people.
He sees a need and hires someone to fill it. I don't think Trump ever really liked Bannon but wanted to use him, and did.
So this board was wrong to question who and how Obama hired? He was “in the Whitehouse”

This is going to get good fast....
Get the popcorn ready because the showdown of the century between 2 of the most egotistical men to ever exist is about to happen. I have to say though I’m rooting for Trump. He’s a loudmouth and a blowhard, but I don’t believe he ever truly believed in the really nasty stuff that comes from the alt right. I know Bannon believes that stuff.
This I agree with. Bannon is a true believer and Trump was his conduit... a faulty one, but a conduit none the less.

So let’s say all of this stuff is true. Trump still elevated him as a co Chief if Staff and out him on the National Security Council........
I would love to see how the Trumpsters spin that!

Did I say anything remotely close to that? No I said that trump hired the people he needed to get him where he is. I'm not thrilled with Bannon as a person, and he is fair game, but it is what it is.
Basically the post I was responding to was "how can trump hire this joker" and I said "the joker was there to fill a need, not because Trump loved him".

Bannon is a bigot and a terrible person. Trump is too. Its possible for two terrible people to not get on well.
Are you saying Trump is a terrible person or a Bigot? Terrible person is subjective, I get that, but do you have a documented example of his "Bigotry"?
Here's just a few
1) Housing policies for his apartment company
2) Openly calling for the prosecution of 4 innocent Black people in the Central Park Case
3) Open equation of Nazi terrorists with peaceful protesters
4) Judge Curiel
5) His 'they're rapists' opening speech
6) Literally pardoning racism in the case of former Sheriff Arpaio
I'm off to the airport...no time to give you more, but there's more...and much more...

You mean the four people then accused of rape and murder. One can be wrong without being a bigot. You prove that all the time.

In a speech where he called racism evil and unamerican
Quote:4) Judge Curiel
You mean Trump did not want to be judged by a member of La Raza? I'm shocked!
Quote:5) His 'they're rapists' opening speech
Not talking about a race or nationality of people. Talking about people who break the law to come here. He also said "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
Quote:6) Literally pardoning racism in the case of former Sheriff Arpaio
Work on what the word "Literally" means. Arpaio was not convicted of bigotry.

ARPAIO WAS CONVICTED OF HAVING RACIST POLICIES AND CONTINUING THEM IN DEFIANCE OF A COURT ORDER. THATS WHY I SAID LITERALLY.

No he was talking about antifa, who are as bad as nazi's

Because la raza is a politically active group actively trying to oppose trump at hte time. You don't think that might represent a small concern as to conflict of interest? Lord knows if it was a gay candidate running for office and a liberty grad acting as the judge you would hit the roof.

Are you sure about that? They do quite a bit of business in the states.
Besides, they seemed to like to follow American law on at least one occassion:
Quote:Deutsche Bank AG on Thursday said U.S. law prohibits it from responding to questions from U.S. lawmakers about President Donald Trump and his possible ties to Russia without a legally proper request because of regulations protecting customer information.
Deutsche Bank cites US bank privacy laws in turning down lawmakers on Trump records
Not to mention this little diddy...
Quote:The Justice Department, along with federal partners, announced today a $7.2 billion settlement with Deutsche Bank resolving federal civil claims that Deutsche Bank misled investors in the packaging, securitization, marketing, sale and issuance of residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) between 2006 and 2007. This $7.2 billion agreement represents the single largest RMBS resolution for the conduct of a single entity. The settlement requires Deutsche Bank to pay a $3.1 billion civil penalty under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA). Under the settlement, Deutsche Bank will also provide $4.1 billion in relief to underwater homeowners, distressed borrowers and affected communities.
“This resolution holds Deutsche Bank accountable for its illegal conduct and irresponsible lending practices, which caused serious and lasting damage to investors and the American public,” said Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch. “Deutsche Bank did not merely mislead investors: it contributed directly to an international financial crisis. The cost of this misconduct is significant: Deutsche Bank will pay a $3.1 billion civil penalty, and provide an additional $4.1 billion in relief to homeowners, borrowers, and communities harmed by its practices. Our settlement today makes clear that institutions like Deutsche Bank cannot evade responsibility for the great cost exacted by their conduct.”

It is funny, but this writer is known for playing fast and loose with the facts. There are a lot of questionable quotes, errors, etc. I don't think too much stock can be put in his book. Some of it might well be true but the due diligence we should expect just isn't there.
My advice is to toss this one aside and wait until a real investigative journalist publishes something.

RE: Well, let's see how fast the left claims Steve Bannon as a hero and credible...
Mach your link talked about the Justice department, not congress. You do know they are different entities, right? It also talked about regulators (once again executive branch personel)
Finally the link pointed out that even those executive agencies have no true enforcement mechanisms..
FFS Did you even read it or have a joygasm at the headline..
Quote:Current International Criminal Discovery Under U.S. Law
Whereas banking and money services have become significantly more globalized over the last decades, law enforcement powers have traditionally limited jurisdictional reach. This has, in turn, limited U.S. enforcement agencies’ ability to investigate transnational movement of money in furtherance of illicit activities ( See DOJ, Anti-Corruption Legislative Proposals, May 5, 2016 at p.9.). Modern criminals make extensive use of the global financial system to channel funds across borders for terrorist financing, corruption, and tax evasion. This has posed challenges for foreign banks subject to various money-laundering laws, as well as to national governments attempting to investigate such crimes. In response, U.S. law enforcement agencies are increasingly taking the view that effective criminal enforcement requires being able to access information and records held in foreign jurisdictions. As the DOJ noted in its proposal, “Kleptocrats use the global financial system to launder corruption proceeds. These illicit funds are predominantly processed by large, global financial institutions which have U.S. correspondent accounts. Given the worldwide presence of those financial institutions, records that are relevant to a U.S. investigation may exist overseas.” ( See DOJ, Anti-Corruption Legislative Proposals, May 5, 2016 at p.9.).
There are some treaties which compel foreign companies to honor a subpoena by a *US LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY* but none that give congress that authority.
