They need to just claim it lol.

undefeated watching 2 loss teams? both of which lost to auburn. even if the ncaa doesn't give it to them, why not claim it? the AAC should claim it for them too. see if any of the other G5 conferences go along. even if it only gets eyerolls like many of Pitts claimed national titles. at the very least it would raise hell for the playoff selection committee and at this point they have a valid argument.

if it were the bearcats i'd be demanding a national championship banner to be hung in nippert.

Who knows. as their coach pointed out, they were deliberately underrated all year to prevent any scenario where they could get into the playoff. i believe memphis and usf were purposely disrespected in the rankings for this same reason to keep ucf from having "quality" wins. now that its no longer a playoff threat will they move up? I feel common sense puts them at least top 3, if not 2 behind the winner of the championship game.

then again moving them that high would add to the controversy of them being left out, so maybe not...

but if AAC commissioner Aresco is serious about pushing his Power6 agenda, this is his golden opportunity. the chance for the conference to claim a national championship and force the conversation.

They should. Nothing stopping them and many other teams do it. No better way to create 'tradition.' In the 80s Alabama retroactively claimed something like 5 additional national championships from the 20s, 30s and 40s. And in one of those they finished something like 20th in the final AP poll.

Not a conspiracy theorist but one has to wonder about those suppressed rankings for other AAC schools that diluted UCF's case for a higher ranking too. At a minimum they are deserving of Auburn's #7 spot but I'll be surprised if they're allowed to rise higher than that. In other words, the fix is in.

Not only undefeated, but UCF also beat the school that handed all the loses to the two schools in the NC game. Sounds like a legit claim to me.

I guess I can see that...except that UCF played Auburn (SEC west champ) and not BYU. Both teams were 10-3 entering the bowl game. I don't know if the Liberty Bowl was bigger back then, but I can't imagine it was as big as a stage as yesterday's game against Auburn.

Either way, UCF is claiming a national title. Hopefully they make a trophy and stick it up ESPN's....

USC would have been in. They are not going to 8 teams and not putting each conference winner from the P5 conferences in the playoffs. Each conference would not stand for that.

UCF is the only team that has beaten all the opponents in their way, and the only team ca pale of besting Auburn. Sounds like my National Champ team. Next week will be a cute consolation game. If I were UCF I would be completely obnoxious about it and hang that damn banner loud and proud. F*ck the SEC.

Under the circumstances...what a great controversy to have though.

Alabama getting into the NC game is particularly galling. Talk about backing in. What does it say when a school who was on the outside looking in going into the championship game weekend comes out on the other end with a berth in the playoffs? They were rewarded for sitting at home and doing absolutely nothing. Also, their committee is a complete joke. I mean, Condoleeza Rice? She has the exact same qualifications as I do to sit on that committee, which is zero.

Even if they go to 8, they wont be selecting a team outside of the P5. That's why the P5 was created. They want to exclude antone outside of their group.
