Just stop it! I hated you guys ever since your idiot AD couldn’t get the name of the conference right and now you’re the standard bearer for all the little guys. Who am I supposed to hate now? I suppose there’s always Marshall but that’s not even fun anymore,

RE: Class Act!
Our bowl performance this year reminds me of our performance against WMU at home under Campbell when he was headed to ISU. Not saying Coach Candle is headed out but the lack of effort and preparation were very similar. Frost certainly displayed class in the way he handled the transition. If I recall we were in the running for the G5 bowl opportunity if we had won the MACC? Still not willing to look beyond this by Matt C...he is not Scott Frost IMO.

so, we owe a lot of money to the assistant coaches from our 3 national (or co-national) championship teams back in the late 60's and early 70's. Who's going to arrange the parades?

We could afford the $1,000 bonuses (10% of their 1970 salary) but the interest would kill us.

I would still vote that Carty not get one. He could get Michigan or RichRod to pay it. BTW - is Carty still alive? Don't want to be insensitive with a No vote for him...

In his interview, he was quoted as saying to his wife that it was a wonderful place and where he would love to be at. (2) Frost played at Nebraska and had a connection to the school as an alumni. It is also a football school that has lost a lot of luster that he would like to restore. Campbell had no connection to Iowa State at all other than the strangely well placed and timely comment about how wonderful it was. I'm sure the interview was not the first time he made that known to someone. (3) Frost had his team ready to play and they were not distracted and took a huge win over Auburn. His team was undefeated, won the conference and the bowl game. Campbell did not have his team ready for the most important game at Toledo in 11 years 0 which meant getting the MACC. He did not win the conference and he was not there for the bowl game. He also did take recruits with him - as Frost is likely doing. That sucks, and I don't know if any of them have signed NLI's or not. There comfort is with the coaches that recruited them - not a school for which they have likely been on campus exactly one time.

In the end it doesn't really matter. I guess I felt Campbell was using Toledo as a stepping stone only. He did not win a conference championship while here. We now have that championship under Candle, and my allegiance is to him (despite the poor bowl showing) as an alumni. I care about Campbell about as much as he cares about Toledo now - which is very little.

As that great philosopher once said - "dude's gone, move on.."

Moving on is good. But, I will say the staff at ISU that came from Toledo has stayed in contact with my son, so I guess he didn't use
him.

Didn't mean to imply he used any of the players - I don't think that would be the case with 99% of the coaches that leave a school. I think he used the UT experience to strengthen his worth at a new school - for more money. Of course that is always the hope of most coaches at the mid-majors. I think what bothered most fans - and how it was presented, was that he was preoccupied with the opportunity and let Toledo's football team become second fiddle to those ambitions. May just be a perception, but when he came out and said that he had discussions with his wife about how wonderful Ames, Iowa was when we played there - that is a time when he should have just zipped it. That gives the impression he was looking at opportunities - and likely also making those known to talent search agents.

I'm sure that will go over well with fans of UF, FSU, and U of Miami that have some pretty legit National Championships.

When considered who they are sticking it to and that players and students from all four schools have much more in common than they do with the team they're sticking it to, it might go over better than expected.
