That's been happening since even during WWII when Stalin didn't trust Roosevelt and the rest of the Allies.
Putin is always going to do what he can to undermine the U.S., including hacking, etc. Just like Obama tried to undermine Netanyahu (Oh, but that's "different" right?).
The point is that Putin's continual attempts to undermine his nemesis is entirely different than Trump collusion with Putin. Especially given that the U.S. has made considerable gains internationally and domestically in the first year of his presidency. "Collusion" would insist that Trump and Putin met or their people met and planned out a Trump presidency in which Russia would benefit.
How has Russia benefited from Trump? Let's start there. If you have trouble coming up with much... that's your first problem that lends itself to your theory being half-cocked at best.
The posted series had no content with collusion. But they gave a *great* history of why Putin has such a hard-on for the West and why he targets the election process.
Interesting program. Too bad PBS placed such a liberal slant on it. Truth is I don't think most Americans were surprised Russia tried this type of stuff. It is why they are our enemy. What this really boils down to is Obama's lack of leadership to stand up to Putin, and Hillary being a bad candidate. The woman had been part of the Washington elite for decades, of course there was dirt of her and her cronies. The fact that her campaign and Obama's intelligence community were not competent enough to protect their dirty secrets (Hillary/DNC collusion against Bernie) from Russia is as big a story.
The top secret intel linking Putin to the leaks has to be the story of Pap's drunken meeting with the Australian diplomat in London.
The truth is America was fed up with Obama's weak globalist style of leadership, and the voters wanted his overreaching policies undone. In one year Trump has pretty much erased most of the damage Obama inflected with his executive orders. I wonder if Obama has watched this documentary, and if he wishes he would have left Trump only at that 2011 Correspondence Diner?

Uhhhhhh because he's a Russian communist.
Same reason we've always disliked them. We're American capitalist. The two systems aren't really designed to get along like elementary school pals.
Election processes are the easiest way for foreign govts to attempt to influence a country. Again... this isn't just a Russia/USA thing. Like I said, Obama tried to undermine the last Israeli election but failed terribly and was easily found out. He also didn't have the spy background that Putin has. Actually, Obama had zero background. He had no qualifications.

Goes beyond the simple 'he's a Russian Communist'. More like 'he's a Russian Communist' + some personal incentives.
Kind of like why a guy who was actually at Khe Sahn is more of a non-Vietnamese advocate.

I can agree with that, however this is a non-story that nobody wants to watch if it weren't for the perceived Trump collusion by the left's fans thanks to a drummed up faux narrative. So while it may not mention that collusion, it's still playing to and for it.
The left had no issue with Putin until AFTER the election. They straight up ignored or defended Obama's dealings with Putin excessively, and still do (Hot mic controversy during 2012 campaign, and Uranium One deal).

So its playing to a narrative when it doesnt even touch on it or mention it. Is this your version of a "trigger"?
To be honest, the show deals with far more than US elections. Without the Trump background this is just as interesting as an investigative piece into the multiple 'operations' and how they have evolved.
But, then again I watched it and feel comfortable stating that (notwithstanding my views on the 'Trump affair'). You are seemingly judging its content (and intent, for that matter) without even doing that.......

Lolz. Maybe so. Also. I’ve had too much scotch today.
