New Conference
Hate it that New Mexico State has to leave the SBC and try to go it alone as an independent. And it was fitting that they won their bowl game against Utah State. How about regionalizing CUSA by creating a New Southwest Conference?

New Mexico State
Texas State
Rice
UTEP
Arkansas State
North Texas
Louisiana Tech
UAB
Southern Miss
ULL (La Tech will just have to swallow their pride)

I could care less about ODU.

Add WKU, MTSU, Marshall, and Troy and I'm a happy camper.

Not going to speak for all of USM but watching ECU, Memphis, TCU, UL, and Tulane leave us behind, I don’t care how you arrange the deck chairs.

As to the proposed new conference I don’t see any advantage over the current lineup.

RE: New Conference
Just add NMSU to C-USA. We'd each get 4 dollars and 21 cents less per year, and we'd gain a rival for UTEP.

Doesnt make any difference how you mix and match any or all or some of the group because it will make no difference at all. Therefore, for the time being, USM will either head out as an Indy or restructure with a group including ULL, ULM, So Alabama, Troy, Ark State, Mdl Tn, La Tec h if they want in, UAB and another or two around the fringe. This move WILL result in less team travel and better fan proximity. Those are the only alternatives. No need for us to travel to UTSA, UTEP, New Mexico State, Fla Intl, FAU, Old Dominion, etc when So Ala, ULL, Troy, ULM, UAB etc are just around the corner.

You will die as an Indy. For all that is right in college football, you're willing to join up with ULM and So Alabama?

Have at it.

I will invite you down when we play South Al. Take a look at the crowd and then remember the 25-30 that shows up from N Tex. and you will see how that will work for us.

RE: New Conference
Since we are playing

WKU
Marshall
MTSU
GS
UAB
Troy

USM
ULL
LT
AState
Rice
UNT

And on second thought dropping the Texas teams gives us a nice 10 team conference. We don’t recruit Texas anyway.

Imagine USM, LT, Marshall, ULL, Troy, GS and UAB could meet in Atlanta and make this happen if so inclined. Of course it goes against the large media market rule but who cares since the media pissed on our current lineup.

Since we are apparently making up conferences that will never happen, I would be happy with this one for ODU -

ECU
Marshall
WKU
MTSU
UAB
Charlotte
LA Tech

GA State

I hate that NMSU is getting pushed out too, but not so much that I want to disrupt what we have going within C-USA West. Also, to revamp something resembling the old SWC, you need more then just one former member (Rice). I believe Rice, Houston, and SMU combined with a better collection of G5 programs would be more desirable. See my reply to the SWC Thread on the Realignment Board.

I was just throwing something out there that might have some regional appeal. Something to tighten geography somewhat. Houston and SMU leaving the AAC will never happen. That conference is almost P6 you know.03-lmfao03-lmfao

I like how everyone is all New Mexico State is great after their first bowl in a million years. They're not a sustainable football program due to their location in Breaking Bad Land. Basketball is a different story but that's not gonna earn them a seat at a table.
