The 2019 Draft is loaded with players with similar skills and physical attributes.

I think his timing is real bad. After the bowl game debacle, Toledo players will not be in real demand.

Bowl game is meaningless when talking about his draft chances. Drafting is about the individual not the team. If he tests well, which I think he will, he’ll be picked in the first 5 rounds.

RE: Ola Adeniyi to leave the Rockes for the 2018 NFL Draft
I guess I can understand his decision. The only things I would advise him on is that he could likely improve his draft position with another year - but at the risk of injury that is always a possibility. Also, he should be on track to get his degree before he heads to the NFL. If he takes a semester off to train for a Pro Day and is a year short of graduation, then I don't think he is making the right decision. He would have to finish up on his own dime and may have a couple of years of trying to catch on with a team, being on practice squads, etc. I don't know as that he has enough of the physical gifts to make a pro team. But then again, he has been a lot more productive in college that Jayrone Elliot was ( a late developer) and he has had a decent NFL career.
Good luck to him. Was thinking 2018 was bound to be our best defense in a long, long, time....

I was definitely looking forward to Ola's senior year. He is a disruptive DE. I was expecting him to be drafted after next year. It will be tough to replace him. Best of luck going forward.

so we lose Adeniya, Skipper, and Quinn from the defensive end units. Not good. At least we were somewhat used to playing without Skipper most of the year.

Also Malik Jones and maybe Chris Norwood.

Why would Skipper be able to come back? He was hurt in the first game? How can Cody get another year and not Skipper?

skipper is eligible to return as is Norwood, both would have about 10 months of rehab after an ACL when fall camp starts so it depends on their recovery. Some guys are full speed at that point, some guys take a little longer, some never quite get back.

Skipper is back. We will sorely miss Ola. I hope some young guys develop.

Well that's good news. I had heard he was done playing - but obviously not from a very good source. That person thought he played in the EMU game and was hurt after that. I could not remember if I saw him in that game or not. I do remember not seeing him in one of the games early on and I think I commented about that on this board, but I thought he played after that. I guess not. BTW - "that person" was me.

He was hurt against Miami.

RE: Ola Adeniyi to leave the Rockes for the 2018 NFL Draft
Interesting thing about Ola that may or may not be intriguing to teams, is that he is only 20 years old (was 17 at the start of freshman season) and I read somewhere that he only started playing football junior year in high school. So, he potentially has a lot of legs left in him. Although, on the other hand, he got dinged up a lot the last 2 seasons. Seemed like at least half the games he had to come out with some sort of minor injury for a while. Teams will look at that too.
Of course, Page was also 20 when he declared, if I recall correctly. I hope Ola has a longer career than Eric did.

He was hurt against Miami.
Looks like he was hurt in the Tulsa game - maybe against Nevada. I say he may have been hurt against Nevada since he had no defensive stats against Tulsa - but shows up on the participation list. He did not start the game, but must have been in the game at some point, however briefly. May have already been hurt but had not been diagnosed yet?
He does not show up in the statistics for participation in the Miami game. Had 4 tackles in Nevada game and also 4 in Elon game. None against Tulane. DNP against Miami according to the stat sheets. Season stats show him playing in 3 games, so he did have some time on the field against Tulsa.
The other thing I noticed in looking at the stat sheets is how few tackles our LBs had in those first few games. Started to pick up later on. Linch ended up being the #1 in tackles with 75 for the season. Our departing DE's were #2 and #4 and a DB was #3. The other starting linebackers had a total of 66 and 48 on the season. Only the one with 48 is returning. Olekanma who started to come on later in the season also returns - he had 45 on the season.
