Ray of Hope for Better Days
As I peer up from the abyss dug by Tubby, I recalled the below beacon:
Quote:“We have resourced this program at a top 10 and 15 level nationally,” said University of Memphis president David Rudd. “We expect to be at that level, period. We have resourced it that way for a reason. Historically it’s a top 10 program, we expect it to perform at that level and we’ve resourced it at that level. Part of my responsibility is asserting that expectation and standard, and that is the standard.”

He's a year away from being a year away.

A lot of my friends are Tiger fans. I talk to even more people at work who are tiger fans. Nobody is enjoying this season. Not a single person among a sample size of >100.
There's no parade to rain on.

There is literally nothing that makes me even the least bit optimistic about the future of Tiger basketball. It is a complete and utter disaster with no obvious end in sight

Please consider the tree withers, but the roots are strong. We have the infrastructure (e.g., state-of-the art facility, NBA arena, fans that care, intense local media coverage, and fertile recruiting area) in place for success. Like football, we just need the right coach.

Oh I agree 100% ... the infrastructure is in place. Should've clarified *immediate future* ...
But I was saying that it looks like Tubby will be here for at least another year. Just don't see any hope as long as he's he coach.

Everybody is literally one recruiting class away from being a top 25 NCAA team.
It happened with Laurinburg class. It happened with Joe Jackson, Crawford, Black class.

The right hire makes all the difference in college basketball. Tubby needs to be let go after this season but not sure if that can happen.

If Tubby is not let go...what's the projected scenario?
That's where decisive minds need to go.

Yeah. Most of us are suffering from BSAD (basketball season affective disorder)
But decision makers block out human suffering. They look at the bottom line.
If the bottom line is tanking with no obvious solution, they prolly otter get a thinktank group together and see where it takes them.
And it might be nice to hear from Rudd again.

I’ll venture a guess.
1.One or more players transfer (a common occurance these days but particularly pronounced under Tubby).
2. We sign JUCO’s and/or low rated freshmen.
3. Season ticket sales and attendance continue downward trend.
4. Depending on who transfers, we contend for the NIT (at best).
5. Tubby gets richer while employing his son.

if 1 and 2 happen we aren't competing for the NIT. A team worse than this one will not compete.
If I'm Jeremiah Martin, i'm loading up to graduate this summer.

Yep and every school in America will know Martin is working on a grad transfer but somehow the Tub will be blindsided...
