*** Military Bowl Game Thread
Working from home I have the game on in the background.

Cavaliers getting smashed, mistakes and turnovers. Now 35-7 Midshipmen.

This is why I always favor G5 schools in match ups with P5. The P5 schools are never motivated and never happy to be playing a G5 school, and no matter what the coaching staff says, a lot of players do not focus like they do for a P5 opponent.

Or, it could be that Navy has a better team than Virginia.

Well they are playing better. But you'll probably see 10 of the current Cav roster in the NFL in the next couple years. I have seen some really strong individual plays, open field tackles, etc, indicating the Cabs are bigger faster better athletes. But as a team they are a distracted mess, committing numerous self-destructive penalties and errors.

Duke can get up for NIU in Detroit, but Virginia can’t get up for Navy in front of friends & family?

Navy’s better.

Basically, same goes for Florida State and Southern Miss as well. And this is the first time in years UVA is making a bowl appearance, it's not like this is an annual thing where a G5 game is a disappointment.

Yup. Didnt even think about that. Bowling for them is rare enough that there really is no reason to ever "not be up" for the game.

Cold weather always favors the team that runs the ball better...I figured Navy would win...but I thought they would win by 7-14pts not by a gazillion.

I was at the game, it was frigid, wife had us leave late in the 3rd. UVA receivers had no interest in catching the ball, lol.

ha...The biggest Navy fan on the AAC board bailed early as well. Back in the day, I was visiting friends and considering transferring to Texas Tech. They took me to a Tech game in the snow back in 1979. I was totally unprepared wearing a light coat and canvas tennis shoes in the slush. lol...my feet were throbbing by the end of the first quarter. I was cold and miserable the entire game--- and I never went back to Lubbock again.

I (and my wife) stayed for the entire game and sang Blue and Gold with the 1,000 or so mids and the team.

I was prepared. My toes got a little cold despite three pairs of sox but nothing i couldn't handle, otherwise i was bundled top to bottom.

My wife was too, save for one fatal flaw: She bought a pair of slender gloves that she was told were equal to "ski gloves", "polar tech" or some trendy stuff. I told her she needed to do what i was doing, and put a big old fashioned pair of thick furry gloves over top of those slender ski gloves, double up on gloves. But she didn't listen and by end of first quarter she was complaining that her fingers were cold. That's what ultimately forced our 3rd Q exit.

I didn't want to assume you meant me as "the biggest Navy fan on the AAC board," but wanted to get on record. I'm sure I have been colder over a five hour stretch....but can't identify a specific event offhand...

Its easier if your watching your team perform like Navy did yesterday. Great performance! On the other hand, I cant remember being colder than I was at that stupid Tech game (totally my own fault--other than being 19, I have no real excuse for being so completely unprepared).
