Thanks. This is a good poll. I like that it includes the A10 and MW conferences too. I don't see how MTSU isn't getting top 25 votes in the real poll right now. The top 4 in CUSA are legit this season. Id love to see 2 in the NCAA and two in the NIT.

Hey Monarx, MT is getting four votes in the USA Today top 25 poll.

ODU hoops got a lot of air time this morning on the First Team with Greg McElroy this morning. They talked about our great start, our NCAA chances, MT (and their alum Chris Childers) and CUSA possibly being a multi-bid league again. Even got one of our chants on air. All of it was due to Andy Mendoza, one of our alums that works on the show.

Sorry, for someone who gave up watching and listening to hyped up sports shows with blow hard commentators, what station/channel was this on and will it be rebroadcast?

It's on ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM. And I doubt they rebroadcast. But they may have a podcast you can listen to it on.

I don't listen often. But from the times I have, they spend the majority of their time on the P5. So it was a nice to hear them do a segment on ODU.

Good point on the coverage. Nice to get coverage anywhere as long as it's positive. Glad the basketball team is getting it done right now.

Fair rankings. Horribly written, but fair nevertheless. I'll say this: The horrible writer's threshold for "special season" for ODU is pretty damned low if this year's team meets it. Even with a sketchy recent history, I think at-large conversation with a puncher's chance of reaching the Sweet 16 with the right matchups is the bar for "special season", not "be in the top four of CUSA with a 75-100 RPI". A good season, sure, but special? Not hardly.

I agree that what you described would not constitute a special season. The writer did not state those parameters as being special. It was stated that we are currently in the top 4 of a four dog race, and we can challenge for the top. I agree with the writer that ODU could indeed look back at this as a special season, but it will be challenging.
